Finally geting around to swapping in my Black Knight playfield from
CPR . I was wondering what people are using to staple down the ground
wire. I know some install new wire but either way is there a good
staple tool (numatic or other ) or can I use the old fashion silver
home depot stapler ?

Staples ;)

pinrestore.com sells the original style staples and gun if you want to
go original.

I used the standard staple gun from home depot for mine though.

Game plays great with the new playfield - while you're rebuilding it
consider putting a flipped-upside gate in the ball lock at the top, if
you get it correct in there it will prevent the ball fly through that
black knights have. Wish I'd taken a pic of it when I did it but
hopefully you can figure something out from that description.

I also put a plastic rod/ring from a stern game in the pop bumper, it's
quieter but more importantly, pops a lot faster for better reactions.

I thought the upper ball lock fly through was just on mine ! Thanks
for the tip. Will check out the stapler, may be worth it because have
another playfield swap coming up for a strikes and Spares. Not sure
how you rigged the ball gate. Upside down to help push the ball down
off the side ? I was thinking of adding a couple of extra gI lights to
brighten up the playfield in areas under plastics that look dark also.

Mounted a ball gate bracket (no ball gate) upside down using one of the
post mounting screws - the way it works is the ball is flying through
the lock area at the same height as the playfield (well, the centerline
of the ball is, anyway). So, you want the bracket to end up in its
path, so it drops the ball right down into the trough. Kills all the
forward momentum, so there's still no risk of it flying out.

Makes it a lot betterer. ;)

This might sound a little O/C but I pulled the staples out of my
Meteor, polished them and hammered them in by hand. It was a lot
easier than it sounds. Held them with a 45 degree pair of needle nose
pliers, 2 taps, done.

It's Possible to replace the stapled down ground braid with insulated
wire.
I've found it easier, although not original.
