Tech: High Speed Flashers.

I would like to mod my High Speed, In the center of the playfield
there is 2 blue oval inserts with 2 63 bulbs under each of them. I
would like to hook up 2 more 63 bulbs to each on my speaker panel so
they flash when the ones on the playfield flash. Any Ideas on how to
hook them up?

Actually, there are four 63 bulbs under each of them.

The 63 bulbs have to be wired 2 in series in order for them not to burn
out. That's probably why you didn't notice the other two under your
inserts -- one is most likely burned out.

Slipped my mind, yes there are 4 and I'd like to hook up to them and
add flashers in the backbox speaker panel.

Wire the 2 in series that you add in parallel with the existing bulbs.

No... They are currently wired two in series, then two strings of two are
wired in parallel. You want to add a third string of two wired in series
in parallel to the original two strings. (Hope that makes sense!)

I'm not 100% sure the transistor driving them can handle that much draw,
though. If they all fire off but dimly, then you're over that transistor's
limit. (Hook it up with alligator clips to test it out first.)

Another consideration is the "keep warm" circuit. There is a resistor
that keeps the filaments heated on the flash lamps that is always
"on." Adding additional flash lamps will cause this resistor to make
more heat -- and can be a problem even with the current number of
flash lamps. You may need to increase the wattage or engineer a
separate resistor for your added flash lamps.

o.k. how about adding relays and making the signal wire energize the
relays to light the flashlamps??

It is easier to just increase the resistor wattage or just try it
without a change and see how the resistor fares.
