What happened to Northern Crossroads?

Does anyone know what happened to NC?
The last time I logged in was early afternoon on Dec 31; since
then I haven't been able to connect. If anyone has some info on
whether they have shut down permanently, or moved, or been
attacked by the Y2K bug, please reply.

and it's still up today!

though most people access it at ncmud.net 9000, now (both work)
