If you have AB3 and the latest 40k files, start up AB and choose Community
Lists as the race. Then go to Roster, Change Rules, and tick BoLS -
Genestealer Cults on the right hand side. Ta da!
The BoLS (and possibly other lists) are being added by those maintainers who
want to do so and have time, so it may take a while for other lists to
filter in.
Hey,
Primed and ink washed. What is AL?
BTW I don't have a proper patriarch so I'm using an ]I[ inquisitor scale
genestealer as a replacement.
He'd work great as a broodlord as well, I suspect...

Legions were sacrificed at the Altar of Expediency, so no more AL.
Now what's a Gavved Chaos player to do with those Cultists?

In my case, they're what's on the label - Rebel PDF.
Ie, Catachans and Empire Militia with Nurgley bits.
They served double-duty as AL and LatD Units.
The "GSC Brethren" tag will just fill the AL gap.

Unless I find a Craigslist IG bargain, I'll have next to nothing:
Magus, Hybrids, Stealers and Brethren. That's it.
In fact, the Magus is just Hybrid B with dagger.
I am excited about Gun Truck modelling options.
No Limousines, though - too Necromunda.

You have AB3, right? And you've installed the latest update? Go to Help >
Datafile Release Notes and scroll right to the bottom, is the last line
about version 1.01a? If not, you've got an old fileset installed.
The current complete fileset is available to download here: http://www.ab40k.org/modules.php?name=Downloads&d_op=viewdownload&cid=2
Save that file, then open up AB and import that file. You should now have
the Community Lists race.
There should be another new complete fileset any day now with the new IG
codex in too :)

New file was uploaded today, this has the new IG codex in as well as some
more GW Apoc datasheets. This is the initial release of these updates, the
update to the automatic system within AB3.1 will go out early next week -
this gives a week for any rogue bugs that got through the vigourous bug
testing to be fixed before the general release.

Another update has just been posted, and will be in the automatic updates shortly:
http://www.ab40k.org/modules.php?name=Downloads&d_op=viewdownloaddetails&lid=138
This includes some more bug fixes, and the option of using the 'Ard Boyz
list of inducted units for WH/DH.
However, the BoLS lists have been removed for the time being, as concerns
were raised about whether this would open the AB40k team up to litigation
from GW due to the possibility that these lists from BoLS might infringe the
GW IP policy. I'm sure the person who raised this will be crowing to all his
cronies about how he "saved" the AB40k team (and keeps forgetting that the
AB40k files already stamp all over the GW IP policy anyway, and are in no
way "official" as he keeps stating they are ... argh, must stop ranting
...); as it was the original intent of these lists was to be a separate
install back when they were started but along the way they were integrated
instead, and they've been removed not only because of this, but also because
there's a lot of in-house cleaning up being done inside the AB40k files
themselves as a lot of 4th ed stuff is floating around still that's no
longer used and it's easier to do this by stripping out everything except
the core content for now (the 'Ard Boyz tweak was added last minute as it
was considered an important feature due to the upcoming tournaments and it
being pretty much GW "sanctified").
So if you use the BoLS lists in AB, don't install the update, or rename the
current data folder (normally C:\ArmyBuilderEx\data\AB40k5 ) so that the new
update doesn't overwrite it, and then you'll need to choose the appropriate
folder when starting up AB3. Hopefully a better solution will be sorted out
in the near future, I'll post again if it does. The BoLS lists are not,
AFAIK, gone for good - they will resurface.
Oh, and if said individual starts posting here in rgmw bleating on about how
much better he is than the rest of us, a standard rgmw welcome for him would
be most appreciated. It's just a shame that there's no way to inflict pain

RGMW FAQ: http://www.rgmw.org
I'd caught just bits of this here and there... Who is this ass-
hat that's causing the problems? I'd love to hear how the AB40K lists
are 'official' without being sanctioned by GW. In fact, it was the very
issue that one could build 'illegal lists' with AB, such that one had to
own the official codex in order to use AB and still be certain that said
list was 'legal' by the 40K rules that allowed them to not be sued by GW
in the first place. So here, folks make additional content, share it,
and some ass-hat with brain-cramp comes along and makes it suck for
everyone else. Remember kids, this is why 'blanket parties' and other
forms of 'blunt force trauma' are at times needed.

So how exactly does one have 'seperate installs' that work along
with the regular 40K files? In AB V2 one had files (dat files?) that
didn't get updated, and you had the option of not deleting them as newer
updates came out. Is it going to work anything like that?

Right now, we're not sure. It might be that the BoLS stuff is released
separately and installs in it's own folder as a self contained game system
within AB (AB treats each folder in the Data folder as it's own game system,
so files within one do not interfere with those in another - this is why you
can rename the 1.02a data folder to say AB40k5_2, and then install 1.02b as
the default AB40k5, and be able to select between them when you start AB up,
and even though they duplicate a lot of stuff they are each independent of
the other), or they might get back into the AB40k full release. I'll let you
know once we've come to a decision on how best to handle it

Oh, no problem. [coughdickcough]
And, because people can't hear enough about me -
It was WD135, from grimmest, darkest 1991.
The Dwarf still ran Space Hulk campaigns, then.
(If you ever want to do any WD lookups, start here):
http://www.gamehobby.net/subject_indexes/
I bought SH and played it with Ye Olde RPG group.
The next day, I went back for Deathwing and Genestealer.
(I even had an "alpha" stealer with the Mark of Khorne on its brow.)
Later, Ork and IG boxes were bought for Hulk and Crusade campaigns.
So, I had a really sweet pool of bits to use for, er, creative
modeling.
Tempus Fugitives version:
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k176/Thlaylie/DSC00485.jpg
Mine aren't much different, except the Orky bits are much older, of
course.
But, I'm finding NiCad AA batteries don't work very well in my camera
(?).
If I get it working soon, I'll post a link to pics just for you, Mr.
Snarkypants.
Goggle Warning: I used Testors enamels back in the day . . .

Not much to distinguish it as a Hybrid, is there?
Hybrid models had those inbuilt kneepads.
There was also a carapace on the back.
Other than that, you needed Stealer arms to get a clue.
That series is from when Orks were still a Chaos army.
(As were Genestealers). Man, those were the days!
Then, GW created a "Key Development" department.
And guess who happened to be nearby emptying waste baskets?

You really needed to see it in profile to see the genestealer-type extended

Gav Thorpe makes a good point: all fun, entertainment, imagery and

After all, everyone knows that 5 year olds have no imagination, the
disposible income to buy several armies and the patience to paint them to a
