Characters:
General (121 pts.)
2nd level Wizard (129 pts.)
Regiments of renown:
Asarnil Dragonlord (750 pts.)
Wizard dispels enemy magic and Asarnil destroys regiment after regiment. If
you play tournament rules ( 50pts. magic toys, no special characters), your
hero on dragon will win everyone.

Not in the DoW. Yechhh...

To me, it's a good idea to always carry two sacks of something when you walk
around. That way, if anybody says, "Hey, can you give me a hand?" You can say,
"Sorry, got these sacks."
Simple. Black Gem of Gnar (25 points). 750 pts. Poof. I'd LOVE for someone to
field this against me.

My Champion challenges your Dragon riding Hero. Black Gem. Bye-bye.
I've done this many times. Most players now do not send 500+ point
character killers against me. If they do, I Black Gem their cheezey
asses.
Another Dwarf specialty would be to use:
A large regiment with at least 4 ranks.
Army Standard with Rune of Courage and 2 Runes of Battle.
Regiment Standard with 3 Runes of Battle.
Combat resolution bonuses would be +3 for rank, +1 for each standard,
and +5 for the Runes of Battle. Let's see. That's +10. Rune of
Courage makes me immune to all psychology/break tests.
Also, I could give my General Runes of Might, Dragon Slaying, and
Fury.
This is boring. Big monsters are easy to bust. All it takes is some
thinking. I prefer the Black Gem. It's cheap as hell, and infuriates
cheeze-mongers.

Mark Schwartz

Oh yeah, I almost forgot. What moron would (normally) allow a 50
point limit on items, but let his opponent take a 750 point Dragon?
People around here try that crap occasionally. They try to limit
anti-magic (scrolls, Runes of Spellbreaking), but then take for
themselves 4th level wizard with Book of Ashur and Potion of
Knowledge.
I don't think soooo......

Yes it is. If you Black Gem the rider of a rider/mount combo, they
both go bye-bye.
This is also true of chariots. The entire model is frozen. Primarch.

NO ASARNIL IS CONSIDER REGIMENT

Sure, you can do that. it's quite possibly even legal.
However, it doesn't prevent people from either a)refusing to play you
or having b)a highly mobile Black Gem of Gnar.
Cheese shall not be rewarded........it shall be punished. <Loading Bolt
Pistol> Can I please get 'em for sins in WHFB as well as 40K?
Speaking of the RTC, although I missed RT the first time around, I really
appreciate the spirit of the fluff and the comittment to release and support
all the armies got at the time. I'm also greatly impressed with the labor of
love that people have put into keeping that spirit alive.
In the spirit of that DIY ethic, as long as no one objects, I'm joining the
RTC......not to be arrogant, but I'll assume no serious objections allows me to
put it in my sig file.

not to mention that the tourney rules do not allow special charecters, only
generic charecters.

You guys need to read the Dogs of War book, it's structure is far different
than the other army books. It allows 35% characters ( general, paymaster,
wizard etc ) and at least 65% on Regiments of Renown ( who come with their own
character leader ). Asarnil is a Regiment of Renown and therefore is not
classified as a character, especially a "special" one. Yeah I know, doesn't
make sense, but it is legal if not a little unwise.
"O God of battles! steel my soldiers' hearts"
-William Shakespeare's Henry V
You are right, but I've only tried to show how stupid are rules in new Dogs
of War Army. If I can't buy magic items for captains, I will have to add
hero with magic items to assault units (black gem, ruby chalice etc.). The
same with magic standard. Only one magic standard to chose - battle
standard. Other standards are good (especialy that wherebear's one), but
it's not the same.
Sincerely,
Wojtek
And if you go strictly by the wording, the Galloper Guns aren't even
classified as War Machines. Thus making Leonardo's tweak ability pretty
zoggin' useless, since he can't join another army.

Evil Homer, annoyed.
Dares to present alternate opinions to yours. Because, face it, you're
wrong.
His talent says that he can "inspect one battery or artillery in the army...
Well Bronzino's BATTERY or Galloper Guns I'm sure would qualify. Also, this is
just one of Leonardo's Talents. The better one might be to assign him to a unit
of Crossbowmen of Miragliano and have him "adjust" their crossbows.
It says "one battery of artillery," not "battery OR artillery." Nowhere
in the Galloper Gun description is it referred to as Artillery,
specifically (and using the artillery die is not criteria in and of
itself). It's nitpicky, but a well-written set of rules would make the
distinction clear, such as Model Type: Artillery.
--
Evil Homer, likes his rules proofwritten and playtested.
3 Empire Great Cannon in a battery with a Hero with Talisman of
Ravensdark and good magic armor. If the Cannon don't stop Asarnil, the
Hero w/Talisman should hold him up long enough to get charged by the
other Empire regiments. That should do the trick.
Be seeing you-

Perhaps, but for an opponent to insist that a Galloper Gun could not benefit
from Leonardo's talent would be pretty anal don't you think? I mean they (the
game designers) at some point have to assume that even a total moron would
realize that a cannon is artillery. Not that it matters much to me since I
don't use Special Characters.
According to the above information:
Lets see...
Basic math tells us 65% of 1000 is 650, Asarnil costs 750...
Legal army?
I think not.

He said at least 65% in regiments, not max of 65% in regiments.

Asarnil and dragon are a regiment, not a character. It is legal.
That is the crock that he was pointing out.
