Good whatever-time-of-day-it-is-in-your-timezone! :-)

A friend of mine recently introduced me to Warhammer 40.000, and I am
currently deciding what army to start with. Said friend went with the
Black Templars Space Marines, and I may go with either the Eldar or
Chaos Space Marines. (No, I won't go with the Dark Eldar because,
frankly, I think the miniatures released so far suck ancient
gorgonzola.) Anyhooo...

I couldn't find any of these Eldar miniatures at GW's web site. Have
they been discontinued?

Swooping Hawk Exarch
Swooping Hawks
Howling Banshee Exarch
Howling Banshees
Eldar Harlequins
Eldar Warlock

Also, have some of the Sisters of Battle been discontinued? I noticed
that these miniatures seem to have gone AWOL:

8049-I ???
8049-T Frateris Militia

(Oh, and please forgive my poor english.)

As an Eldar player myself, I have to warn you, you may have to wait a
while for the codex and the new plastic guardians. But for variety
against the SM's, you may want to pick them. In the end, however, you
have to pick whichever one best suits your character.

The Banshees have been discontinued. The harlequins are not even part of
the army any more(assuming you are playing 3rd edition, which I do
because of your reference to BT's and Eldar), and the Swooping Hawks and
Warlocks have probably been discontinued due to their having
lasweapons(which the Eldar no longer use). Expect to see them back,
though, when the codex comes out. The banshees, IMO, are worth waiting
for(only 17 pts with A2 and power weapon!).

Don't know about them, but SoB's are bound to be going through that kind
of stuff until their codex comes out.

Hey, I couldn't tell that you weren't native.

LOL. And if you like 1984, you'll love GW. Ask them where the
discontinued stuff went. It will never have existed.

Last time I was in the local store, the dealers January order form had Swooping
Hawks on it (now, whether or not they show up is another matter)

Why the hell are they making NEW plastic guardians? They just made new ones
like two months ago! Why don't they, say, release models that have not yet
been released twice? Like Ork Shoota Boyz or Space MArine Vindicators?

From what I've heard all said models are being redone, perhaps in plastic?
Does anyone else Know? Or has another great tragedy befallen the ancient
and proud Eldar?

Like, no they didn't. Like, the plastic guardians currently available are
the same as when I started playing 4 or 5 years ago (except less to a box,
of course). Like, maybe you've got confused with the Dark Eldar.

Thanks. I think I'll go with the Chaos Space Marines, since I'm told
that 'Codex: Chaos' will be available any day now, and build a
secondary Eldar army as the new miniatures are released. (I *really*
like the Falcon Grav Tank.)

Playing and playing... I don't even have the rulebook yet, so, until
a new shipment is delivered to the local GW-pusher, I'm stuck with
hawking my friend's rulebook and codexes. Not that he would mind - or
even notice it - if I should happen to borrow it for a day or two or
three, as he's probably busy painting Space Marines. (He bought the
Warhammer 40,000 Boxed Game Set, The Really, Really Big and Expensive
Citadel Paint Set, two Space Marine Command Squad boxes, and a fortune
in various miniatures and accessories.)

Let us all hope that they won't look like they have been sculpted by a
eighty-year old blind former heavy-weight boxer named B.S.E. Dali...

Oh, blasted! Those miniatures are awesome. :-(

And, as they say: "Blessed is the mind too small for doubt."

I got my hands on specific Warlocks who did not carry lasweapons - you can
still get them from mailorder.

My sis just bought five Warlocks from GW Nottingham, and they had Swooping
Hawks in too. As for Banshees, we had to go to a local game store which
still had some in stock from 40k2. By all accounts the Harlequins will also
return with their own mini codex, perhaps they will get their own plastics?

They will. My latest info on the Harlie Codex places it in
August directly after Codex: Craftworld Eldar, coming in July (Aaargh!).
