Be prepared to change / add rules!

Good 15mm Fantasy figures:

Chariot: Elves; Goblins, Lizard men and Orcs
Tabletop miniatures: Dwarves
Ral Partha: Various, excellent but relatively expensive. See the flying
figures before you buy them and the Elven Pikemen aren't necessarily to
everyone's taste.
Museum; Essex; Two Dragons; Gladiator for humans
( I don't like Essex fantasy figures )
Pendraken do 10mm ratmen which are rather nice ( and who's to say how
big/small a ratman is?? )
Chariot are talking about doing some duckmen!

Irregular do a wide range if you like your figures chunky - but you
won't be able to miix them with *any* other manufacturers.

on base size:
I feel this doesn't really matter so long as you agree in advance with
your friends ( or just use all your own figures ).
You're going to have to make your own area effect templates anyway.
I base all 15mm on 5p pieces, with a steel washer glued to base.
Washer 'sticks' to magnetic sheet in carrying cases and on movement
trays.
Cut (artists mounting board ) thick card to double the length X 1 width
and use steel paper on this.
Use 2p pieces with bigger washers for giants etc ( 25/30mm )

One thing you can do is use centimemters instead of inches in the
regular rules. It's pretty close for the distances.

Strangly,or perhaps not, more than fantasy our major focus is using
some 15mm historical armies, but wanting the fasted game that we'd get
from WHFB rather than using a traditional set like DBM. But occaisonly
we'll be able to throw fantasy stuff in to make it different.

Does you know where I can get Chariot fantasy miniatures? I bought
some at a show awhile ago, but have no dealer name or address.

Thanks,

Hi

While we are here, Irregular do a great range of 6mm fantasy. They come ready
based in 5s. Not very good if your rules require you to take off dead/count heads
for combat etc, but brilliant for FR! or HOTT.

15mm and 25mm figures can be used as giants/gods/spirits etc.

Well, if you want a fast game, I would go with one of two options:

1) Use Armati instead of DBM. I prefer DBM, but Armati play MUCH
faster, it seems like.

2) Use "Fantasy Rules!" , which is made for 15mm, and which should work
fairly well for historical minis with a small amount of porting. The
rules and expansions even contain a huge number of "historical" armies,
even. Magic and other Fantstic elements are woven in very well.

If you like to include fantastic elements fairly often, I would go with
#2. Since both are relatively inexpensive, though, I might go for both
and use Armati for historical and FR! for fantastic battles.

Fiddly though.

I prefer marking with caps.
With 15mm those erasers ( got to be careful of target audience I typed
rubber there first ) which go on the end of pencils can be cut to give a
cheap source of little rubber rings.
Less chance of damaging anything than those Risk bins.
