The *entire point* of 'Nids is that you can NEVER have "too many"
'Nids. They are a damned swarm for a reason.
The same could be said of Orks, as well.
Good lord, I think that's my problem! I play horde armies that don't
seem like horde armies...IG, VC, Empire, DoW. Perhas if I switched
over to Chaos I'd at least get my kitchen back.

Hmm... So you have to decide between your kitchen, or your soul?
Tough choice.
/BEER FOR THE BEER GOD!
Sort of a related question here. If someone wanted to field a competitive,
balanced 'Nid army (Say...1500 points or so), how much money would you
estimate they'd end up paying (US$)? And how would suggest they purchase it,
with regards to combinations of the battleforce box, individual unit boxes
and blisters?

the 'Nid Army box plus the Nid Battleforce box is what I wanted to do,
back in the day. It got you a Tyrant a 'Fex and plenty of warriors and
smaller bugs. IIRC.
Joe
Do they make Nid army boxes these days? I've only ever seen SM, CSM and Tau
army boxes on the shelves and also the limited run army boxes for new
releases, like the DA army box w/ ltd ed. company master and libby.

I thought of chaos, but berserkers and a rhino just doesn't seem
appealing. Orks, perhaps, but I had enough fear painting 150 nids, to
do the same with orks will lose my sanity...
I thought of eldar, but again figure the box does not come with enough
to be playable at that...
I may just need to wait for a GW auction in june to pick a side...
Tau probably have the best Battleforce both in terms of monetary
savings and the consistency of its contents - a full FW squad with
transport, a Battlesuit who can double as an HQ unit and a Stealth
trio (oh, and Kroot and Drones). It's also great for doubling up -
unlike some Battleforces, everything here save the Kroot is something
that works well in duplicates: extra FWs, a full-size Stealth unit (or
two smaller ones) and extra Crisis. The Megaforce is not a bad deal at
all either - in fact one Battleforce and one Megaforce complement each
other nicely and make a pretty comprehensive army. All you'd likely
need to add are extra FWs and another Hammerhead.

So the Ork seems the best savings, Followed by Catachan, Necron, Nids
and Assorted marine list.
Sadly I was tempted by the Imperials for the Russ, but since it isn't
much of the savings, I will need to wait till June.
Thanks Michael, I will save this post and use it as a guide in June!
i have never seen a battle set that is worth the ammount of money they want
you to pay for it. yes, perhaps it might be 10$ cheaper than buying them
seperately, but its still 50% more expensive than it ought to be.

Nice summary.
I would almost place the DA veteran sprues at the $20 mark. Those
sprues cover all you would need and then some for a combat squad and
the box that comes with that sprue and a $6 tac upgrade sprue is only
$22. The ravenwing upgrade sprues if they were bit orderable would
probably be in the $10-15 range for the full sprue I think.
