Hi,

I used to play 40K and WFB when 40K was first published. I am now
interested in starting to play again and am wondering about the new editions
of 40K and WFB that GW have published. Are they better or worse than the
first edition rules and why did they have to change them??

Also does anybody know whatever happened to Space Hulk. It seems to have
completly vanished from circulation in GW shops. Shame because it was one
of GW better games.

Thanks for any help/advice.

Hi fellow Demonic user,

I too used to play the old rules and now own both new games. In my humble
opinion the new games are better, they are easier to understand and certain
rules are clearer. Perhaps this is due to GW aiming at a slightly younger end
of the market.

Anyway, I find that the games flow more smoothly and simpler rules mean that
you can introduce your own more 'advanced' rules later, without being
restricted by other contradicting, if not silly rules. Also the models are
better.

Oh yeah, Space Hulk. Try sales in big stores like WHSmith, they occaisonally
have a few for about a tenner (that's pounds in case any Americans are
reading this!) that they are trying offload.

You going to Golden Demon?

See ya,

Well, the rumour I've heard from the Plaza GW is that SH is being
revamped and should be out (fingers crossed) this autumn (sorry, this
Fall for any colonials reading <grin>)

Apparently, the rules are EXACTLY the same, but the geotiles are
3D (I don't really see what they mean, but that's what I was told)

Cynical thought - By revamping, I guess they can release SH, DW, GS
ALL OVER AGAIN!!!!! Hurray! More money!

New Chaos God - GW - the daemon god of money! Money for the money god!

We're not worthy! We're not worthy!

But yeah, it IS the bestest GW games (except p'raps for Adv. Space
Crusade, but I guess that was a bit complicated for GW's 8-year old
market, so it was with drawn <ohhh, controversial statement> ;) )

I also was going to pick up Space Hulk after trying it out.
It was a really cool game. The guy at the gane shop said it
was discontinued, but is being re-released in time
for christmas upgraded similarly like the upgrade
from Advanced Hero Quest to Warhammer Quest.
This is a good Idead, but I want to get may hands on Space Hulk,
NOW! :)

Yeah I heard it was being released early next year. Not sure about the
rules, but I heard the termies included in it will be new (thank god, the
old ones were HORRIBLE) designs. I don't think you really could rewrite
the rules any better. There about the most hole-free, abuseless rules GW
has ever come up with. Space Hulk is definitely on of my top 10 favorite
games.

I believe that's the plan for ALL their games.

Repent, for thou shalt be judged before the money god!

Ugh, I really didn't like A.S.C. that much. All the complexity didn't add
a whole lot to the game play. The game boards were terrible. However, I
kind of liked the mission system, and also the ability to use all sorts
of different races (Orks, Eldar, etc.) was a fun feature.

If you have some old WD(can't remember which issue, but I guess it's some
of those old with either games day "report" or Golden D "report") You can
find one picture of this 3D Space Hulk, It do look awesome.

<big shrug>

If you can't come to the UK, why not try to sort something out in
Sweden? I'm not sure if there's any GW stores up there, but there
must be SOME games store which wants to make a quick buck, err,
Krona (sorry, probably spelt wrong). Why not get them to get in touch
with GW (UK) and get rights to start their own version? In fact, as
you were the one to suggest it, you could probably wrangle a few
free tickets out of them :)

And knowing what GW is like, once they get their foot in the door,
there will soon be GW stores ALL OVER Sweden before you know it :)

Just an idea, and I realise it'll take a lot of effort, but it could
be worth it.

Hi

You spelled Krona(singularis) right, plural is Kronor.

I think GW are going to open one store in our capital city, Stockholm, but I
don't know when. And our game store at home, Helsingborg(a little town in
southern Sweden) have plans of a local competition - so what, do you know how
many adept paiters there are in Helsingborg? at most 10, and then we are
lucky.
Then there are the conventions of course, but they to are kind of smal.
I'm not out after some prize or anything, but I think it would be very fun to
se how my figures do against some heavy competition.
It would be a different matter if there was a (Swedish)national
competition...

If that lowers the prices thats good, otherwise no thanks.

Well the work is half the fun, isn't it.
