I got glue and a fine detail brush in my stocking, along with the mickey
of Jack D, and two bottles of mead. And a Fortress. But that wasn't in
the stocking.

Glad too - I just checked GW's site and it says they expect to ship any
ordered Fotress of Redemption kits in five to six weeks. I guess they
ran out! I suppose from that we can assume it's not a splash release.

I have no time to look at it right now. Got a drop pod to get assembled
and sealed, then one more drop pod to get from base coat to assembled
and finished. Then a bunch of melta-armed marines to put together for a
tournament. Then it MIGHT get a look in.

I also got a present from Bit Kingdom. For the delays in getting me
some stuff, Nate sent me a Baneblade. What a nice guy. He's getting a
copy of The Bugman's Game for that one! Don't tell him... ssshhh!
Something tells me I'll have a bunch of marines walking up behind a
Hellhammer in an Apoc game sometime in the future.

What did you all get?

I got a ton of really good SF & Fantasy books that I asked for.
An author I like has a blog where he puts up other author interviews
where the interviewed authors explain the concepts behind their books
and what inspired them to write the story. I've found a metric butt-
load of books that I really like via this system. I also got a really
nice winter coat (for my B-day which is near Xmas) that both looks good
*AND* keeps me warm. (I got a new coat last year, but despite its bulky
appearence it had all the insulating value of cheese cloth.) And about
5 lbs around the waist-line from all the good eats...

As for 40K - I did snag myself a pair of Orky Lobbas off Ebay on the
cheap. Otherwise I didn't really ask for anything GW this year. I'll
wait and see with the new Nids codex on the near horizon. Doubtless
I'll snag some stuff - but who knows. I may just wait until the weather
is warmer and I can actually primer / base color everything with the air
brush before buying.

I forgot to mention I got one of those 'National Geographic' boxed sets
that I've been wanting for ages. When I was a kid we had a couple
decades worth of Nat Geo magazines, and they got left behind / pitched
during one of my family's moves to a new house. I was truly bummed. My
wife found the new DVD boxed set that's got every issue from 1888 to
2008 in it. KICK ASS!

still going to give him the old 'Pics or it didn't happen' line. ;)

The cool thing about it is that I haven't had a good christmas in at
least 6 years (marraige and all)... granted I had to work so this
Christmas wasn't great, but with this stuff I really won't have to get
-anything- for all of 2010 aside from maybe some odds and ends and
supplies and an occasional Forge World door.. I'm not interested in
Tyranids or Fantasy really anymore and I'm trying to sell a bunch of
stuff too. I'm only really interested in keeping my Demons and my CSM.

and frankly I'll have enough CSM that if I get on a roll with
painting... I'll be able to sell some squads and make some money back
later... like when they get a good codex again...

Road wheels for my new Baneblade rolling chassis. :- D

> a horse

Of course! And a few Cav bases, etc.
You can see a sprue of green 40k temps in there.

Basically, the usual 5x7in bits bag is too small for Neal's excess
inventory.
People order a lot of Baneblade/ Stormsword turrets, but tracks? Not
so much.
So, he embiggened the bits bag option to accomodate the larger excess
sprues.

I expect other bags will include buildings etc, at their core.
It looks like a large sprue is inserted into the bag first.
Then, smaller stuff is shoveled-in top and bottom.

There were @20 mostly-complete frames.
There was exactly one pewter bit.
Also, some bits were primered.

Worth it for the Baneblade, Supreme Commander and Red Shirts alone.
Yes, it was ordered using the Black Friday discount. ;- )
Highly recommended to 40k modelers.

Enough SM/ CSM bits to build 18 Red Shirts for Havok/ Chosen squads.

* Loads of Heavy/ Assault weapons.
* Loads of Fists/ Claws.
* Loads of alt heads.

Caveat: It turns out the "mega" bits bag is 6x9in:

I got the SuperUltraHyperMega Bits Bag Pro, or some such.
It was 6x as much for 2x the price, less Black Friday discount.
Neal's new site hates FF, so I can't find the damn Superbag now. :- (

I'm sure if you just give him a call, he'd be glad to hook you up.

A reminder of why someone is on your shit list can be most helpful
around this time of year. Just when you start thinking someone might
have changed you get a dose of reality.

I did however get a really nice set of bookends, very gothic looking with

kick him off it - Guitar Hero Metallica boxed set with guitar, and the GH

Well, a mate of mine got a GW order screw-up. He ordered and paid for one
Imperial Strongpoint, but they got the quantity wrong and sent 3
Strongpoints instead. Because he's too honest for his own good, he called
GW even though the error was to his favor... and found their policy is not
to accept returns on incorrect orders. "Uh, why don't you just keep them?"
WTF??? So, it seems he got a 3 for the price of one deal for Christmas.

Oh, and I got gifted with an Imperial Strongpoint this Christmas. Seems a
good mate somehow had extra. :-) Now, I need to figure out how to
desecrate it properly...
