I found out there will be alot of Dark Angels plus an assortment of
orks and the like, so I want to be flexible, but also different.
I am posting the 2 lists which I am deciding about, I appreciate any
comments and perhaps advice which to take which.... I always feel I
can get a honest and brutal response if I post here...

Usually I'd carp about the extra points for warp field vs extended
carapace, but since you're going with the winged tyrant it's your only
option for a 2+ save. (And no, it's never worth extra points solely for
the invulnerable save - for much the same reason the old termies with
the 6+ invulnerable save weren't worth their points either.) Two sets
of twin linked devourers are going to be punishing. With the Tyrant's
speed, you should even be able to get behind Rhinos to get shots on the
AV 10 armor.

Not only do I hate the model, but I'm seriously dubious about it
being worth the extra points and capable of earning them back on the
table top.

While having stealers is great as they tool most foes in HTH,
having them live long enough to get there is another matter. I've seen
more than a few tables at tournaments that were rather 'sparse' on the
terrain - particularly LOS blocking stuff. Just be aware of that and
place them accordingly as they'll be prime targets for any shooty stuff.

Not bad, I like to arm my shooty warriors much the same. That
said, you might consider giving them Rending instead of talons so that
if they do end up in HTH with marines they've still got a chance to can-
opener them in HTH right off the bat.

Decent, and even capable of prying open light vehicles. The fact
that they can't be insta-killed makes them much more viable.

My advice is ditch the toxin sacs and take more 'vanilla' gants.
With the plain old FB - they're still getting S4 hits with living ammo.
At 6 points these guys are a steal. Load up on them. By shear weight
of fire they'll knock down Terminators, and even Land-speeders and other
AV 10 vehicles.

These guys aren't bad - but they'll drop like flies when it comes
to shooting, and even in HTH against Tac marines. They hit hard on the
charge, but without major beefing up (which is points prohibitive) they
lack staying power.
> Ravener Brood (x3) Points: 150
> Rending Claws, Scything Talons, Devourer
As much as I like the my 3rd Ed models, mine don't see a lot of
action. I'd be more inclined to suggest that you ditch this unit, and
take another brood of Shooty warriors like you've got above, and then
dump the rest of your points into more gants for your shooty termagant
squads. The warriors offer more synapse, and can't be insta-killed like
deep striking raveners can be when they're out of synapse range.

Pure shooty fex - I use this style Fex regularly. Keep this one
in cover where possible and drop bad news on your opponents.

Here I'm going to suggest that you ditch the venom cannon. Since
it looks like this one is tooled for HTH, give it a twin-linked Devourer
instead. Just remember to support your HTH Fex with another unit or two
so that it doesn't get hammered by special characters or totally
overwhelmed on its own.
Hope that helps,

RGMW FAQ: http://www.rgmw.org
Oh, it can when used against weak-in-assault foes. I lost most of a
1000-point Tau army to a lucky infiltration by a genestealer broodlord
and retinue.
They deployed in area terrain, 13" from my firebase. One lucky errain
roll, a good fleet roll, and they were in combat on turn one...
Broodlord went through 4+ models in a fire warrior team, killing all in
reach, leaving no option to counter. I was lucky his really big shit was
distraced by an Orc army at the other end of the board... Ended battle
with one disarmed, stunned Hammerhead left on the table <hangs head in
shame>
Still, I should have expected it. I was fighting the store's campaign
champion...

-_-;; oO(I have a rep for losing kill-fests)
I hate the model too. Which is why I will use one of my rogue-trader era
genestealer patriarchs as a Broodlord when I ever get around to fielding my
'nids.
On a side note, the Broodlord model can be improved somewhat simply by
posing it differently. I was putting the model together for a client and
since I had never seen one before I chose to pose it in a lunging posture
with it's arms outstreaching as if it was grasping at a victim. Seemed to
fit together okay that way, so I just assumed that sight-unseen, the model
was designed to be posed that way.
Imagine my surprise, months later, when looking through the GDub website I
came across a photo of the broodlord in it's 'preferred' pose - head back,
arms extended and back arched as if it had just been shot in the chest. I
think I like my pose a lot better.

My Bloodlord is posed differently, probably more like yours.
Positioned the torso forward, so he looked more like a fighter. (I
love putty as it smoothed everything out.) I wanted to try him a few
more times as he is more of a distraction...
I think I will try my list this weekend, but I am sorely tempted to
bump the number of gaunts up for the next config (perhaps drop the
ravaners (although I do love em)
I left out my sole lictor and zothrope because I felt they lacked any
numbers to be useful...
Not played for a while but I dont think broodlord gets fleet...
May have misremembered. It was a while back. At any rate, he made combat
within two turns, even after a barrage of pulse-fire from the tau.
that's when it was all over...
And the guy is a little fast and loose on rules anyway. We all are,
here, due to large numbers of kids and 3rd-ed veterans.
