This would defnitely be a side-project army if I ever have money ever again,
and would be a nice ringer army to play against the Tau force that will one
day become my main army.
It's definitely more of a fluff army than a truly evil optimised army, and
of course it's a proper Thousand Sons army, that means all units with Mark
of Tzeentch, and respecting the Lord of Change's Sacred Number of 9.
How could I improve it, and still keep it fluffily Thousand Sons?
HQ
Daemon Prince
Mark of Tzeentch

Comes to 993 points, as do my alternative idea for a configuration (Drop the
Prince, Use the points to get Extra Armour on the Rhinos, and a Chaos Lord
with the Mark and Deathscreamer to ride with the Doombolt squad)
Remotely a plausibly effective force in the world of 40k5?

I know it's not much help, but here goes -
TS are too costly to use as Troops in a 1kpt match.
A PW Disk Lord and 3x9 Iconned Melta CSM in Rhinos?
Hmmm. No room for tanks. Yeah, that's a toughie all right.

Yeah, I know, however I'm kind of keen on it being an actual Thousand Sons
force, and that means that it's kind of necessary to include your actual
Thousand Sons

Iconned Melta CSM's aren't Thousand Sons, and without the Tanks, that list
looks even weaker than what I'm proposing, even if it doe shave the one
extra Troops choice. I've found that the Vindicator is pretty scrayt in 1K
games (or at least it used to be with my Salamanders in Late 3rd/Early 4th
Edition), so I think I'd rather have my Thousand Sons and 2 tanks option.
Though I might cut the Demon Prince down to a regular Lord or Sorceor Lord
type guy, depending on points, but a DP does make a nice centrepiece unit,
and some Ushabti provide enough Khemrian Thousand Sons looking parts that
the DP would still look like he belonged to the tragic Legion of Magnus.

Uh huh.

So, what you "know" has no bearing?
An inconvenient truth?
Okay.
[shrug] It's your army.
Pla - 6 squads of dusty TS myself - ya

Sorry, I thought you specifically requested advice on effectiveness.
I presumed you were concerned about giving opponents a good match-up.
My bad.

You can't at that point limit. But you could buy a jeep.
Sorry, Playa, I just can't let the easy ones go.

Based on my buddy's army I would say that anything below 2000 points is not
viable. At 2500 they really come alive (Pardon the pun).

I can get you real Blackbird for $40 million. But I have to ship it to you
piece by piece. Do you have a socket set and duct tape?
Running low on Duct Tape, sadly otherwise I might take you up on that, if
you'll take it in monthly installments of tree-fiddy
