Overview: Originally a Star League design, the Phalanx was re-
commissioned for the Free Worlds League and designed by Strakor in
3002. The first Phalanx was a lighter 55 tons, and armed with a
smaller missile system. The aging PLX-2F was mothballed in 2774.
Revamped and redesigned more than two hundred years later, engineers
for the new PLX-4H Phalanx upgraded the weapons suite.

Capabilities: The eighteen short-range missile tubes in the chest of
the Phalanx, paired with the Sunglow Type 2 large laser make a
formidable combination. The light and medium laser array vastly
increase the close-range firepower of the BattleMech. Defensively, the
'Mechs' twelve tons of StarShield Special armor provide more than
adequate protection for a machine of this weight class, and eighteen
heat sinks dissipate the waste energy generated by the weapons array.

Okay, I don't recall exactly what the "upgrade" was. I think it may
have to do with the SRMs. In Ralph Reed's Mechforce, SRM-2 racks don't
build up heat, so that what he loaded this 'Mech down with.

I've a few others left to post.

Does anyone have any thoughts on this design?

I've tried the Phalanx, and it's a bullet magnet. Sure, it beats
Warhammer in single combat, but I can't keep it from being singled out
by the entire enemy lance in a 4 on 4 battle.

She smells like a Thunderbolt; where's the LRMs?

It looks more like a sniper 'Mech than a long range slugger. Perhaps a
city/warehouse defense 'Mech than a open field battler.
