(could you be a little more specific?)
if you want money in inception, invest it in (what? DefHes??);
when at the citadel, put every bit of youre allowance into stock.
study up on 2-handed weapons, nothing else, and get a rocket
launcher/inferno later. (or laser weapons from jail, but not worth it)
*spoiler* after the (7th??) mission, you can walk away with the
chameleon (sp?); i think: take 6 steps south, wait, then run up & left &
out as soon as the gate falls.
buy a vest (6 move) just before the above mission.
there are a few tricks/cheats in the arena thatll let you win
without a scratch (i think this is a bug in the game)
theres more to know, of course, but i dont want to take it *all*
out of the game..

Actually, If you keep failing the missions, you can end up with a lot of
money cause the snakes won't be knocking at you door until the 7th or eighth
mission.

You could also hide out in the little pond on the west side of the compound
and take pot shots from there. You could really make those jenners (even
though they ARE the best light mechs IMHO) pay dearly for their mistake.

Shoot the spectators.. But they wont let you in the city for a while..
(You'll only be able to get out with a locust..)

Use a hexeditor and edit the maps, mechs, and saved games. If thats too
hard, in the Inception game swap building files (*.BLD). Always back up
your files of course... Its possible to complete the game in under five
minutes if you put all the right buildings in the citadel and erase doors
off the last map.
In Revenge, get a copy of the mech editor, and change the mass and crits
of the Gauss rifle to 0 in the data files, then add 16 of them to your
mechs along with 255 ammo.
thanks *<:)

Boy, can I identify with that. I am dying to get into the higher levels of
the game, but cannot get past this *impossible* mission. If you find out
the solution or have a save game past this point, let me know to.

Okay, there are a few hard parts of this game.
The first is the Kurita City.
The easiest way to do it is to obtain the crusaders from a mech facility
north of the city before you go in. There is a small building north of the
city, just go in and check it out.
Make sure that you don't use up ALL of your ammo once you bust your dad out
of jail. Crusaders have so little ammo (8 per LRM and 7.5 per SRM)
Now, Once you get past that, the next hard scenerio is after you protect the
ammunition convoy.
Your two light lances will be assaulted by a company (they couldn't fit 15
mechs) of Clan mechs (8 pumas/adders and four black hawks/novas). The only
way to get out alive is to HIDE! There is no way you can overpower that kind
of power. Even after the reinforcements arrive (an assault lance) Youll
still be hard pressed to get out. The best place to hide is in the little
ally formed by a mountain range and strip mine SW of the ammunition storage
building. Get there as fast as your mechs can take you and try not to lose
any men from your command lance. Losing them in a light mech means that you
won't get his heavy mech in the next battle.
Furthermore, the best way to fight the clans is to wait with your WHOLE unit
and mass fire. With a capital MASS. One on one they'll crush you, but when
it's 12 on one, one at a time, you'll have a much better chance of surviving.
Well, those are the two hardest scenerios of the game IMO. If you need more
help (and don't want to cheat) just drop me a message at:

I remember that I did that once...do you have to get all your units in, or just Jason. Also, one part about the game that bothered me was that when you chose the forest path, you could not finish the scenario if you continued on the mountain path after going about 1/2way through the forest (if you could do that then you could avoid the mechs :)

Well, I had problems with this one.
1, have you got the Crusaders ? If not, you don't stand a chance. They are in
the mech repair compound. If you can't find that, then explore some more
outside the city.
2, In the city, the infantry barracks is located to the west of the prison
Stationing 2 mechs with clear LOS to this means that the infantry won't hurt
you much - you could try destroying it - that may (I didn't try this) stop
the infantry appearing.
3, As I remember, the APC has to fire at a specific square in the prison. Once
this is detroyed, the rescue will take place. It tells you the square in the
start of the scenario
>I never found those crusaders...
What crusaders? I didn't catch the original post.

Tough game? I managed to complete the game with all twelve 'Mechs intact.

I too have made it to the map room at the end. The message says I should use
the map Jeremiah provided me. I guess this to be in the manual.
My problem is, I bought the game as one of three in a collection pack. The
manual was customized for the collection publishing, and someone forgot to
put the IS map in there. Basically, I'm stuck. Which planets do I activate?

I don't know. Parts of this game were hard. It seems to use the same
pattern as other games, Hard Part...easy part...easy part...Hard Part.
Over all I made it with only one loss, and that guy I lost on the next to
final screen. I did it again perfectly, but I don't count that one.
(Question?: Did your old XO's daughter survive? Also, did Colonel
Whatshisname's son from the Shining Light Brigade survive in yours?)
Well, that's all for now.

On the matter of the Crescent Hawk's Inception: This is one of my favorite
games. Now if only some game company would turn on the mental lightbulb and
make another game like it. I liked Mechwarrior and all but can we get off
this sim trip and make another Btech RPG? It's driving me nuts that game
companies ignore this. Let's have a Btech RPG with all the trimmings: all
kinds of mechs, upgrade, purchase, adventuring with full scale campaign,
politics, even economies... play the game at all levels. With the computers
out these days, a game could be made of magnificent proportion for this.
Other question on the Inception: how the hell do you do that map thing at the
end? I've had the game for years and can't figure it out.

Try 'em.
You know those FASA posts that they made about getting jobs?
Well, Tom Dowd is now in charge of a department to start making
video games of their stuff.
He says that the first game they're making is Battletech.
If you mail in your requests to him (FAS...@aol.com), you can
probably get some input.
I'd LOVE it. That first game was wonderful...

I have the 3 pack also, and I had to fork out $5 to call their 900 number to
figure it out.
In the manual, on the map of all of the stars, there is a dark swath that
covers several planets on the map. These planets are the key planets. Use all
of those, and you are home free.

I bought the 3 pack also. THe map was there but I spent a lot of time
figuring out what I was doing wrong until I realized that I had
overlooked one planet. I think there are seven.
