Actually, the Clan arrived in the Kerensky Trilogy, by Mike Stackpole.
If you're able to find any BattleTech books on the shelf, they should
have the list of other books inside the front/back jackets. Most of
the book lists also give the books with a number on them (i.e.,
BattleTech #53, etc.). You won't find that number on the covers of
the actual books, but it can help you with the chronology. Aside from
that, just do a search for BattleTech sites and you are sure to find
any number of sites which will list them for you. Start with Slayer's
(www.sarna.net).
The Sea Monkey, Wise & Noble Lord of the Deep
If you truly want to start from the beginning, I suggest you get the
Warrior Trilogy books. They kicked the main plotline in 3025 off, and
are IMHO very nice.
If not, do as SeaMonkey suggested and start with the Kerensky trilogy.
After that, pretty much all the Stackpole books were the "Spine" Books
[1] That was the case upto "Patriots and Tyrants" that came out just
recently, by now Loren Coleman has taken the job to write the "Spine"
Novels.

As for the numbering... the numbering is totally wrong, especially
since ROC seams to have randomly interjected the old books into their
publishing cycle
Does anyone know if ROC has lost the publishing contract under the new
holders.
if so, then It will be the one thing WizKids has done that I agree
with (I am still waiting on wether or not I like FanPro, but WizKids
Should have done the Real game in addition to their cashCow)
I'll build a list, probably take me a while... I (Think I) have every
novel, though I cannea locate the first one (Sword and the Dagger,
which routinely gets ignored anyway)
This is the list that I put together.
First is a list of all the books. Order is chronological within the
universe (as contributed by fre...@tdl.com, thanks man) with exception of
Mechwarrior books. Battletech series number refers to the numbers
sometimes associated with books on sites like Amazon, eg Flashpoint
(Battletech, 50). A series number with a star represents my best guess;
all others were found by searching on Amazon, B&N and Borders. Format is:
Title {(FASA product code) (Battletech series #) (ISBN #) (optional:
other old ISBN's of books that were reprinted)}

That's why I like the German Books, every single one of them has the
number on the cover.

Up to now, they're all translations of the american novels. The
only difference is that they've put "The Sword and the Dagger" by
Ardath Mayhar ("That First Book") and "No Limits" by Nigel Findley
(I believe it was originally meant for a series called "Virtual
Geographical League", but since it plays on Solaris...) into the
numbered series, too... as well as a collection of the three
Mechwarrior books.
This winter, so it is rumored, there will be an experiment with a
BT novel by a german author (book 53 in the list), but it is not
much known about it yet, except the title...

The german numbering order follows surprisingly well the chronological
order of the books, IMHO and IIRC. For anyone interested, here it is:
1. Decision at Thunder Rift William H. Keith jr.
2. Mercenary's Star William H. Keith jr.
3. The Price of Glory William H. Keith jr.
4. The Sword and the Dagger Ardath Mayhar

"Shrapnel: Fragments from the Inner Sphere"
was published by FanPro's Phoenix label instead of Heyne like
the others. Thus it has no number.

I don't think that has been decided yet. I heard something about
WizKids not again wanting the restrictions ROC put on FASA in the
last few years, but I haven't heard any *proofed* news in that
direction.

Let's see how FanPro adjusts to their new acquisition... they always
take their time, though... a lot of time sometimes... but up to now
they always came 'round to doing something, eventually... ;)

Well, I don't know how others see this, but I always found that one quite
enjoyable (despite the swamp-men and other "irregularities"... ;)

As I mentioned above, this is indeed an english book. It just
wasn't meant to be in the BattleTech series, originally. It was
the first (and only) book of a series called "Virtual Geographi-
cal League".
The book's entry at www.locusmag.com reads as follows:
"Virtual World: No Limits
(Penguin/Roc 0-451-45525-8, May '96 [Apr '96], $5.50, pb)
[*Virtual Geographical League]
SF novelization based on the BattleTech virtual reality game,
first in the "Virtual Geographical League" series. Copyrighted
by Virtual World Entertainment."
So since the book is partly set on Solaris, the german publisher
seems to simply have inserted it into their bestselling series
instead of publishing it (with all kinds of financial risks in-
volved) on its own. After all it is no less BT-relevant than stuff
like "Far Country" for example... ^^;
On a sidenote: it is very likely that the novel is the only book
in the VGL series just because it must have been one of the last
books or even *the* last book of Mr. Findley :(
--> FINDLEY, NIGEL D. (1959-1995)
