2-player Mahjong

Hello!

Does anybody know a 2-player Mahjong variation? I know only 4-player
game or Mahjong solitaire.

There is a 2-player version of "solitaire". The players alternate
taking pairs of tiles until one player cannot find any pairs, that
player passes and the other player tries to find a pair and if the
other player also passes, the game is over. If the other player finds
a pair then the game continues. At the end, the player with the most
pairs wins.

I've heard there is a 2-player version of the 4-player game also, but I
don't know how to play that

If I don't have enough people to play with, I play 2 player Japanese
mahjong against my brother. We make it maximum 20 discards, and scoring
is direct payment. Except, 2 player mahjong is kinda boring, especially
if one person is much better than the other.

And nearly all of the Japanese strip mahjong arcade games on MAME are 2
player, you against the woman, with 18 discards max.
