I've uploaded the second release of Across The Stars to the IF Archive, but
the game, and all associated files, can now be downloaded from:
http://acrossthestars.infodarkness.com/ along with playing the game through
a Java applet.

Thanks to everybody who voted for the game back in 2007, Across The Stars
took fourth place in the Annual IF Competition, and we really appreciate all
the reviews. We've listened to what people had to say, making structural
changes to the game, and put in a few things that couldn't make it into the
first release because we had to meet the deadline.

Across The Stars is a puzzle-based science-fiction adventure game, taking
you from the depths of space to the forgotten caverns of a lost
civilization. As a new recruit in the Xulthe'en Empire, you serve aboard a
deep-space transport. Adjusting to your lifestyle hasn't been easy though,
your berth is small and cramped and the twelve-and-a-half-hour shifts are
long. The Captain even gave you an extra week of duty for not having your
uniform property squared away. In a place this small, you're beginning to
wonder if you have what it takes to serve the Empire.

Set off on a new adventure, as you travel Across The Stars.

Groovy; I've been meaning to get into this one; this gives me a good
excuse :) Thank you!

I didn't pour tea before finding my way to the bridge (didn't need to,
didn't even enter the galley until after). Cannot pour tea after the
pirates have done their thing. Therefore am stuck. Game maneuvers
user into no-win situation without warning within five minutes of
play. Total score: FAIL/10

If the pirates raided the ship the first time you don't need the datacard.
The way to the bridge should now be open, and you should have access to the
cargo hold, but I could pour tea after the pirates raided the first time,
what are you trying to pour it on? It only really works on two things.
Also, once you can get to the bridge and cargo hold you don't need to pour
tea on anything. So you're not in a no-win situation.

Trying to pour it into the mug, from the galley. Mug was empty. No
tea to be poured. I got the card by hurling the mug at it. Going
back and checking out the galley before the pirates show up, there's a
drink dispenser that disappears after they come in. I owe you an
apology; from glancing at the walkthrough I had gotten the impression
it was necessary to empty the tea onto the thingy holding the
captain's badge in order to get it, but upon re-examination the two
have nothing to do with each other. Will try again.
