First of all, it's been a great year for the competition. A whole slew of
entries, and most of them really good. We had some really bizarre entries,
which I always love to see, and we had a good voter turnout (60 votes, 8 of
which were for the Miss Congeniality vote.) Promoted! was the only game
that did not receive enough votes to qualify for prize competition,
presumably due to its choice of OS.
I haven't done the prize picks yet, preferring instead to get this posted as
soon as possible. SPAG 10 will contain those, as well as interviews with
some of the authors, and all the other usual rigamarole. If you want to
submit game reviews (contest entries only) now's the time. Reprints of
opinions posted to r.g.i-f are perfectly acceptable, but I may ask you to
spruce up things or something. When writing out the results, I may have
forgotten an alias that someone used or something of that nature, so I'll
apologize in advance. I'll email their scores to the authors, but other
than that I believe that the scores might just set some folks fretting
about how close they were, blah blah blah, so no public posting of scores,
just the raw place finishes.
I had a blast, guys. I hope next year's competition is half as good.

"Ha. Made ya look!"
That seems awfully skimpy. Especially in the MsC section. Geez, folks,
you're willing to go to all the effort of writing a game, but you don't
bother to vote?
(No, I don't think it's actually a big deal.)

"And Aholibamah bare Jeush, and Jaalam, and Korah: these were the
borogoves..."
I'm actually a bit upset about that... NOT because I don't think that
Graham's game deserved first place, but because the only entry which appeared
to have been written by a woman (and quite competently, too) was nothing more
than an anagram of Graham's name. It appears that interactive fiction is a
totally male-dominated domain after all. Were ANY of the 26 entries done by
a female?? Looks like not.
>3rd Place: Delusions

Very amusing, Forman, writing a review for your own game and
calling it "easily the most genuinely frightening game since 'A Mind
Forever Voyaging'." Delusions was actually my choice for first place,
so I can't complain too much... but HONESTLY, didn't you ever hear of
modesty? <g> At least next year you'll be disqualified for that
stunt. (Just kidding. Really.)
Okay, I'll bite: are there only 49 points available in the game, or
are you just making a smug challenge for us to find your last lousy
point?
At first I pegged Andrew Plotkin as the author, submitting
Delusions as his second (secret) entry. Based on the lousy review he
gave it, I have to say, once again -- Sorry, Andrew!!!

Did he post some reviews? I must have missed that one... :-\
Would some helpful soul mind e-mailing that article to me? I'd really
appreciate it!!
BPD
Yup, and there are some people like me who wanted to vote and the
local pop mail server had something against it :-(.
(Just as explantation. My !"§$%&# local pop server was down the time I
tried to vote, which unfortunately was the last voting day. So no
votes from me )

I meant every word I said. Besides, I had to consider my need for
public opinion. (It's quite life-threatening, you know.)

There really are 50. I might announce where the last comes from. I
haven't decided yet.
