Hello. I am playing Spider and Web by Andrew Plotkin and am at the
portion of the game at the Security Annex. I activate the scan
scrambler and head east, for it really seems that 3 magnetic sheets
would be convenient to stop 3 scan-webs in the ceiling of each of the
three doorways from the security annex. I've tried climbing the desk
and covering the scan web, placing the magnetic sheet under the scan-
web, wearing the sheets.

I have tried maniputlating objects in other rooms while thinking that I
might be visiting the wrong room first, but so far I cannot find a way
to leave any of the other rooms without setting off the scan-web
alarm. Nor can I find any way to change events when sitting in the
interrogation chair.

Could someone point me in the right direction? I'm really stuck on
this one. Thanks.

Dave

Spoiler space:

First, you don't actually need to be holding the scan scrambler to
defeat scan webs; it only has to be reasonably close by.

Second, one of the items in your kit is a timer, which can switch things
on and off after a specified number of moves.

Bearing those two facts in mind, you should be able to work out how to
get in and out of all the rooms you need to.

(I don't remember too many details of the game, so take my comments with
a grain of salt.)

I'm pretty sure that the magnetic sheets are not going to be helpful for
this. I'm also pretty sure that South is the way to go.
