I have the pleasure to let you know about my last game : Works of
Fiction.
The files can be retrieved here :
http://ginko968.free.fr/jeux/wof.htm
Another copy has been uploaded on the IF archive.
Unlike Ekphrasis, Filaments...etc...Works of Fiction has been written
in english. However, since it's not my first language, it might have
some mistakes, I hope not too many.
Works of Fiction has some particular features, such as multiple
windows, and...other things that forced me to write in english because
I wasn't able to write it with other librairies than the ones I had.
For the same reason, if you want to play this game, I suggest strongly
to use the glulxe file within the zip file under windows. On other
supports (Gargoyle, for instance), it might not work.
I hope you will have fun playing Works of Fiction.

I'm having fun. I like it so far. Though, I had to resort to the
walkthrough for the simplest of things. I had no idea I had to "exit"
the Relaxation Room to leave it. I think that should be a bit clearer.
I noticed a few oddities in the second (and third) views. For instance,
if I typed:
>wear the bucket
>n
The second window showed:
>wear the stillsuit helmet
>n the numerical helmet
For the most part, the writing seemed fine to me. Here and there, I
spotted a few grammatical anomalies, but you still managed to get your
point across. Mostly they're really minor issues:
Quite impressed, some people before you retreat as other ask to have the
security called.
Should be:
Quite impressed, some people before you retreat as others ask to have
the security called.
But that could just as easily be mistaken for a typo by a native English
speaker.
I loved the reactions from Marcus when the first extra narrative
started. I was a little disappointed when the Star Wars narrative began.
I felt the idea of telling a story in one real and one imaginary world
was stronger than splitting the narrative again to start another.
The game seems light on puzzles and heavy on narrative. It's great, but
sometimes the "puzzle" is guessing where the narrative's going to go
next. Anyway, I'm strapped to a chair and blindfolded, so I guess I'd
better get back to it...
Hi Benjamin,
Thanks for your feedback.
About the "numerical helmet" (which will show later) it's a bug I
can't explain. After dealing a lot with splitted windows, there are
things that just not work at all. That's why, beyond others things, I
had to disable the "take all" which made unwanted "dissynchronies"
occur.
Thanks for the correction about the sentence.
Don't be too much disappointed by the coming of Lord Vader. The point
of the adventure, as you will see, is not really to live parrallel
adventures but rather to exploit what simultaneity can offer.
Don't hesitate to rely on the walkthrough given, at least to reach the
second part of the game where another concept of simultaneity can be
experienced.
Have fun !

It looks interesting, but I'd like to be able to play it with Gargoyle.
Since gargoyle and glulxe share the same code, why is there this
behavior in Gargoyle? (for example at the beginning, the second window
doesn't scroll down with the text).
You can play it in the current version of Gargoyle if you turn on
scrollbars. (Open garglk.ini and change scrollwidth to 8.) You'll have
to manually advance the scrollbar, but you will be able to play.
Very cool concept, JB!
