Quick stats: Boojum the Wizard: Lev21, Dlevel 43, Str (18/78)25,
Dex 18, Con 18, Int 17, Wis 17, Chr 11. Killed several named demons (was
fighting Yheenghou). Knew that one of my wands was wand of cancellation...
found scroll of identify....first unidentified wand was cancellation. Put
wands in my blessed bag of holding...until my first wand of cancellation. I
said "no" to putting that one in, then pressed `a' to put the rest in. I had
another wand of cancellation lurking down the inventory list. As I was left
with no food, no gold, no gems, and no candles (with no wishes and no wand of
polymorph), I quit. Sigh.
BTW, the Ghennom mazes are annoying....really annoying.

Quit? QUIT? When the fun has just begun? When the boring game suddenly became
interesting again? What people are playing nethack there days? When I was
young, then we had real hack players, not these weaklings you get nowadays :-)

That's what they are for: test your patience (in case you don't have enough
intelligence ;-).

I find them almost tolerable if I've got a couple of blessed spellbooks
of magic mapping and a pick axe... On each level I cast magic mapping,
and then I tunnel straight from one stairway to another... this helps
for going back up again, too.

Ghennom is Hell to go through....

Pick-axe? In Gehennom? With all those yummy minotaurs roaming around?
You work yourself too hard!

Another way is to get a pet rock mole or dwarf. (or a cursed scroll of
genocide and then teleport to the other side of the maze and wait them
destroy it)
