I'm looking for a copy of nethack--, either binary (PC or Amiga) or
source. I looked on archie.au, but the sites it listed no longer had
it.

Is there source around? I know it was written for home computers, but
I'd like to have it here under NetBSD...

The location should be in the FAQ file that is posted regularly here.
This FAQ is also on ftp.krl.caltech.edu.

No, but the author promised me more than once that he would put the
sources up for ftp soon (lost his address, though).

I'm pretty sure I put a DOS version and the source code on nic.funet.fi a
couple of months ago... take a look on there. Feel free to put it in
other places, too!

I checked and the executables are still there:

nic.funet.fi, directory /pub/msdos/games/adventure/nh*:

-rw-rw-r-- 1 hv ftp 200174 Dec 19 1991 nh30jpc1.zoo
-rw-rw-r-- 1 hv ftp 253305 Dec 19 1991 nh30jpc2.zoo
-rw-r--r-- 1 netmgr ftp 702375 Jun 11 1993 nh312386.exe
-rw-r--r-- 1 netmgr ftp 205 Jun 11 1993 nh312386.exe.README
--w-r--r-- 1 netmgr ftp 684628 Jun 12 1993 nh312pc.exe
--w-r--r-- 1 netmgr ftp 231 Jun 12 1993 nh312pc.exe.README
-rw-r--r-- 1 msdos1 ftp 907 Feb 11 14:17 nh31c--dos.dsc
-rw-r--r-- 1 msdos1 ftp 435 Feb 11 14:18 nh31c--dos.inf
-rw-r--r-- 1 msdos1 ftp 652170 Feb 11 14:40 nh31c--dos.zip
-rw-r--r-- 1 netmgr ftp 739041 Feb 3 1993 nh31pc.zip
-rw-r--r-- 1 netmgr ftp 185 Feb 3 1993 nh31zip.readme

I couldn't immediately locate the sources, though...

By the way, if you want the most recent version of "plain" nethack, you
should NOT get any of the above versions, but get nh313, shich can be
ftp-ed from linc.cis.upenn.edu. The versions located at nic.funet.fi
are older ones that still contained bugs!

I have by now uploaded the nh31c-- version to the krl ftp site
(ftp.krl.caltech.edu), to the /pub/nethack/Msdos directory. Those of
you that are not located in Europe might want to get it there instead
of from Finland.

Ok, how about an FTP site for an older version of Nethack?? Alas, I am
stuck on a 286 for a couple more months and I need something to ruin my
studying, I figure nethack would be perfect.

Thanks,

Tim
