Priests and Blades

A little while ago I saw someone post there character, it was a
Priest and it had a Vorpal Blade. I thought Priests couldn't have edged
weapons?

Thats a D&D rule. Nethack does not have the D&D (or AD&D) limitations about
using armor/weapons by various character classes.

That's a silly Dungeons & Dragons limitation (carried over into Moria
and Angband) that doesn't apply to NetHack. I still don't know where
they got the idea to put that limitation onto their clerics, but hey...
