Subject: Memorial for Rick Hubbell

There will be a public memorial for Rick on Sunday, February 1st at
the Seattle Go Center (http://www.seattlegocenter.org), starting at
5:00 p.m. The finer details of the program haven't been set yet, but
there will be a time for sharing memories starting at 5:00, followed
by a potluck when we're done with public sharing. The event should
last until 7:00 or 8:00. The go center will remain open as usual until
after 10:00 p.m.

Rick was a fantastic cook and a vegetarian who tried to avoid dairy
and eggs, so it would be appropriate to bring your most fabulous and
decadent vegetarian dish -- or something with chocolate -- he also had
a weakness for chocolate.

We are putting together a booklet and possibly a web page about Rick.
If you have any memories of Rick, even just a line or two, please send
them to me. He hadn't been dancing long, so specifically I'm thinking
about Meg & Alan, Diana Herbst, Babs, Michael Lyons from California,
and Warren, though there may be others I haven't thought of (my
thinking isn't top notch these days).

I'd like to thank everyone who has reached out to me in person, by
e-mail, by phone. Rick's loss is devastating to me. I really don't
know how I'll want to go on without him. The world seems much grayer
and sadder than when he was a part of it.

Hi Shawn (if you still see these posts)

I was a friend of Rick Hubbell's for many many years. I was with Rick his last couple days in the hospital and am trying to capture some of the memories of Rick and our relationship in writing. You mentioned dancing in your post - which I knew very little about - expect he told me he had been 'Contra dancing' and enjoyed it. Would love to hear more on this or other memories of Rick.
