For Immediate Release
RPG Design in Open Forum
Gareth-Michael Skarka, designer of the critically-acclaimed _Hong Kong Action
Theatre!_ role-playing game, is designing his latest project in an open forum
on the world wide web. The step-by-step design of the game, tentatively
entitled _Underworld_, is being chronicled in a weekly column at the Gaming
Outpost (www.gamingoutpost.com).
"We are proud to have a game designer of Mr. Skarka's caliber developing
an RPG "live" on the Gaming Outpost." says Gaming Outpost editor Aaron
Powell. "His column offers a rare chance for the public to take a ride
through the design process from the initial idea to the final publication."
_Underworld_ is described by the author as "a post-modern epic fantasy,
in a modern urban setting."---a game of magic and adventure, set in a fantasy
world that exists hidden in the tunnels beneath New York City. The game is
being designed to be played as both a table-top and live-action game.
"I'm really looking forward to this opportunity." says Skarka. "The
chance for readers to examine every stage of the development process adds a
level to the design akin to performance. I am invigorated by the feedback
that I'm receiving from the public, which makes the work that much more
fufilling for me, while at the same time hopefully giving the reader some
insight to the work that goes into designing a role-playing game."
