Why don't GMs advertise what their game is about?

Are you sure you mean genre? Within various genres, all sorts of things
can happen. I mean, sure, you can have a gangster mob thriller game,
with a twist (mages and/or vampires). Usually, one can give fair
warning by including something like "supernatural" or "magic" or something
like that in the selection of character types.

Just because someone doesn't believe in vampires doesn't mean he/she
hasn't
heard of them, and various legends regarding their disposal. The real
roleplaying toughie (in my opinion) is figuring out how that person
would react when confronted with a bloodsucking undead creature. ;)
