OK, I've been working on a file for GCA for sorting the 4e skills into
catagories. Here is the list I've gotten so far, based mostly on the
catagories from GURPS Basic 3e and Compendium I.

I'd appreciate feedback on this for any glaring omissions or errors I've
missed.

Share and enjoy.

This is not about omissions, but some of the categories
contain a *lot* of skills, which means a lot of scrolling.

If I were to edit a data file for a GURPS character creation
program, I'd look into a way to split the Combat/Weapon
skill list into two seperate, shorter lists.

Also, I'd create a Technical category, because there are a
lot of skills that appear many times on the list, just with
different subjects:

(Armoury)
Electronics Operation
Electronics Repair
Mechanic
Engineer

Doing that would save most end users a lot of scrolling up
and down, although I am not sure whether it would be wise to
move Armoury too.

As for the Combat/Weapon skills, I can't think of any
logical way to split the category up. Vehicular Weaponry
wouldn't shorten the list much, for instance. Maybe Ranged
vs Non-Ranged?

Actually, that's not a bad idea. Ranged and Melee does seem like the most
logical split.

I wasn't sure about my idea at first, because it'd split the
Fast Draw list of skills, but in the end I don't think it
will cause any problems.

This is a Great Service to GURPS fans. Thank you.

And yes, I agree that "Combat, Melee", "Combat, Ranged", and "Combat,
Sport" is a logical split.

Might as well ask this here as anywhere:

Why did I just do this?

It's on the full lists, IIRC (haven't looked in a couple months).

Check out my website, I have several different versions of the skill
categories available there in PDF, MS Word, and TXT.
