Hail all and well met,
Just a simple question, (i know the answer will not be so simple but i
have to ask).

Does anyone know the properties of a Moonblade, (those wonderous blades that
are handed down through generations)???

Thanks

Andrew

They're in the Elves of Evermeet FR supplement, pp. 70-71.

When created, they vary from +1 to +4 (to hit and damage) and have one
special ability (see table below).

Each time it is passed on to the next generation, the moon blade decides
whether to accept the new owner (who must be elven, of Good alignment,
and act in a selfless and heroic manner to have any chance of being
accepted). Each time the sword accepts a new owner, it gains another
special power. Each special power a moonblade has is symbolized by a
small rune on the blade.

Effects of touching the moon blade
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
Rejected owner or non-elf: 5d8 damage.
Evil creature: Saving throw vs. death magic or killed. If throw is
successful, feel intense pain and can't handle blade
again.

Special Powers (roll d20 to choose)
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
+1 to hit and damage (maximum +5)
Danger Sense: blade glows blue when danger is imminent (within 1 turn)
Dreamwarning: owner has dream warning of danger within 1 day.
Fire Resistance (as ring)
Human Influence (as ring)
Spell Turning (as ring)
ESP (as Medallion)
Command (as Armor of Command)
Good Luck (as Luckstone)
Opening (as Chime of)
Blasting (as Horn of)
Fear (as spell)
Dancing (as sword)
Flame Tongue (as sword)
Wounding (as sword)
Life Stealing (as sword)
Sharpness (as sword)
Warning: location, number and species of hostile enemies within 240'
Throwing: up to 100' range, inflicts normal damage, and returns to user
in one round
Elfshadow: Once per day, user may summon a duplicate identical in every
way to the user (level, hp, AC, etc.) to fight for 2d10 turns
or until slain. If slain, returns to sword and cannot be
summoned again for 2d4 days.

Funny you asking that - I started re-reading the fiction (Elfshadow) about 3
hours ago - in my time zone about 8:20pm

The real art of conversation is not only to say the right thing at the
right time, but also to leave unsaid the wrong thing at the tempting moment.
