One of my players is a halfling druid and wants to use a halfling
quarterstaff. Since there are no stats in the books about one of
halfling size, what damage should I use?

1.) The same as a club (1D6, Two-Handed for halfling)

2.) Reduced Quarterstaff (1D4/1D4)

3.) Something else entirely (1D6/1D4, 1D3/1D3), etc.)

It seems most halfling sized weapons are 1 die lower then their medium
counter parts. But a staff is, in essence, a two-handed club.

What do you think about a Halfling "Eighth"Staff?

Thanks in advance,

Brian

There are rules for smaller sized weaponry in the DMG. A medium sized Qstaff is indeed a
1d4/1d4 weapon.

And that's being generous if you ask me.

But it's properly known as a "Halfling Dire Stick," because ethnic
double weapons must have kewl names in D&D3. :)

Yeah, but just remember, a halfling's size means that ground zero for
it's attack is going to be blow the belt. :-# Owch!

I suppose you could count the damage as 1d4/1d4 for a halfling size
Quaterstaff. In the campaigns my friends and I play, I am a half-elf druid.
My main weapon is a Scimitar but I do have a quaterstaff that I am
proficient in and the damage is 1d6/1d6. If you really want to get
technical, since a halfling is a little shorter than half the size of a
human ( or half-elf as the case may be) you could really cut the damage in
half and count it as 1d3/1d3. But that would make it weaker than a dagger.
So 1d4/1d4 is more than fair for a Halfling size quarterstaff.
