i'm an artist myself (or rather former artist) so I know how hard it is to
remember this stuff. I'll tell you what I think as I go.

First off, having nothing to do with art, I like the website design. Did you
do that yourself?

Darkening Blade: I am pleasantly surprised by her form. When i first saw this
resolving it seemed that it would be the classic bigg titted fantasy babe with
a shiny sword. The sword IS shiny, but her form is more athletic (which is
more reasonable for a warrior). armor is a bit on the small and unprotective
side, but I think realism isn't really what you were going for. Her expression
is excelent, even if I think the face is a bit flat. Also, the wall in the
back is tremendout. the shadows of the incoming . . . somethings could use
defenition. Overall, excelent. Her arms even make her look like she's
wielding a heavy bit of metal.

Drooling Dragon: I dislike the drool overall (though if you've got to have it,
it might as well glow). I also am not fond of the background smoke, but then I
don't get to see a lot of skies filled with smoke, so I'm not an expert. I
*love* the gecko looking dragon toes. Very cool. the rider kind of falls into
the background, as if he weren't really needed. If you were going for that,
then I suppose it's fine. I mean, who looks at that and payus attention to the
rider anyway?

War Pick: Overall, pretty cool. Excelent weapon. Obviously kick ass, but not
overdone. the frame is sort of subtly bent in the upper shoulder and arm area,
which makes it a bit more horrific. I find the lack of discerneable eyes
distressing.

Bradamante: Don't know orlando Furioso, but the charachter seems to have a
sort of classic painting look. I like the blade. I like the fact that it
blends into the background, but it wasn't what i was expecting after the other
works.

Young Merlin: I can't disagree with anyone. The background is amazing. it
almost draws away from the figure, though, esspecially since he seems to be
lacking some definition. Again, no eyes (which was understandeable in the War
Pick picture, but seems strange in a merlin representation). Rock looks nicely
weaher worn. Are these in oils?

Fly From The Dying Sun: I love that guy's skin tone. Basically, it definately
looks like a movie poster. Can't argue. it's a bit busy, but that's sort of
the poster style. Only beef: Are those ships in the lower left supposed to be
moving of their own accord? they don't look it But the excelent detail on the
surface of the planets more than makes up for that.

Guan Yin; remiends me of the chinese painting that huing on our family room
wall. Very nicely done. her dress really pops.

warrior Angel: the clouds are raelly nice. the dragon is ok, but not
spectacular. the Angel's wings don't appear to go anywhere. Overall, i don't
thik i liked this one much. Except for the clouds.

The fields of Forever: very dark. I enjoy art that contains text. I kind of
wonder what you intended this piece to be about. Basically, the nasty leather
guy is pretty scary, which I like.

Mage Portal: I love the fabric. I think the sparkle effect is a bit odd, and
I also think the lower half of her face lacks definition (at least on my
system, but that might be my screen, because iot seems to stop at the nose and
pick up again later). But what I like most about this piece are the cobwebs.
They look wonderful. Did you think about having anything in the portal?

raziel: One of my favorite archangels. However, apart from the right hand, i
think the picture is a bit silly. Seems like it was done quickly. All the
stuff in the lower right (symbolic of Raziel's areas of influence) is a bit
much.

A private Place: Wow. very nice work. I only really have two things that
even vaguely upset me (and even those are slight). the foreground onder her
(moss lichen stone et all) is a bit fuzzy 9my computer again? i think not this
time). Also, her eyes line up in a strange way. it's a rough angle, but it's
still there. The right one appears to be half closed.

A Cricifixion in the Crystal hells: Wow. I like that. i think i know that
girl (heh). Seriously, I love the symetry in the background. it is sort of
ideallistic and horrible at the same time. I love the fact that there's a
lcother there for decency that falls short of protecting her modesty. Sort of
insunt to injury.

umm . . . I hope this is what you were looking for. if not, then I just wrote
a lot of stuff for nothing. But at least I got to browse your art, which
rules. Is all the art on that site of a similar quality? if so, i may stop
going to elfwood period.

Thank you both for going to the site (which I did not design, it is part of
'Epilogue' which is a juried version of Elfwood) and thank you especially for
the detailed criticism! I can't really disagree with anything you said.

There might be a bottleneck somewhere between Denver Colo and your site.
You might want to have the Web Service look into it.

Nice stuff, espcially IMO Bradamante, A Private Place, Guan Yin. Do you do
art for hire, character portraits? I have some friends who are artists but
neither of their styles does it for me--one's rather anime/manga influenced
and the other is quite four color. It works for what they do, but I like
your more detailed(???--don't have a good word for it) style better.
