I have a question regarding the Druid Shape-change ability.

Up until the release of the Complete Druid, I have always thought the the
Druids ability to change shape was physical, and not magical in nature. Now
the CDHB states that the Druid detects from alteration magic. My question
is if a Druid enters a Non-magical area, or goes through a dispel magic field,
does he/she revert to their natural form, or are they just prevented from
changing back.

I would tend towards the latter. I believe that they physically change into
the creature of choice assisted by some type of alteration magic, but they
are in fact that creature. What are your views on this matter.

Thanks

Paul

Since size & mass are not conserved in a Druid's shapechange, it's
my opinion that the change is purely magical in nature. In a non-magical
area, I'd have them stuck in the current form they were wearing & be
unable to change from it until they were out of that area. (That, even
tho it's a magical effect, that the effect is deifically granted & that
-- until they change back -- they _are_ the creature.....much like being
under the effect of a 'polymorph other' [which I'd also say would remain
stuck in that form in a null magic area].

Dispell magic will ( base 50% chance ) affect a shapechanged Druid , but
only for a short time; the Druid need only will his/her shape back again
which takes but segments to do.

Like all magical, but "at will" powers, dispell magic can only affect
them for a brief time ( the time it takes to will them back into existence
again ). Of course, standing in an anti-magic shell will prevent any of
them from taking effect.
