Hvy Metal II just had its tenth update, and several wars are raging.
Cavalry are being raised and sent into battle in increasing numbers.
Artillery and infantry are expected on various fronts shortly.
BlackCompany had to declare bankruptcy at the sixth update, and
Dentrassi moved promptly to seize some of the bankruptcy estate,
earning the honor of starting the first major war between players.
Right before the seventh update, TheDiplomat attacked Aridon, and beep
attacked HeavyBarrel. TheDiplomat ran into stiff Aridon resistance,
but beep has advanced unopposed.
Across the next update, 1EyedMonster took the back entrance into
HeavyBarrel, and Beehive attacked Council. BlackCompany became
solvent again, and, apparently not content with the Dentrassi war,
jumped into the HeavyBarrel dogpile.
Violence then escalated as multiple wars broke out: Baldoria attacked
Aridon and Fighting_53rd, Loc-Nar attacked Council, Lowland, Wales and
Dentrassi joined the Fighting_53rd melee, DonQuixote opened yet
another front on Aridon, and so did Xymaca on Council.
Turn ten saw Dethklok emerge as tech leader, and the first gun fired
in anger by a player: BlackCompany shelled a Dentrassi ship.

Deliveries for WinACE
The delivery is split into the two parts.
c_cut is the direction
c_del is the cutoff value
Sorry, the names were before my time.
F4 - graduated only has c_del as c_cut is not number
F4 - conditional has both

I was just being a bit anal and that is what forced me to ask this
because WinACe actually displaces the following 72. in my delivery column
which means I deliver 72 something to the sector it is in. I did not
removing the amount of delivery only the direction. what got me worried is i can
see during the update the sectors picking up 72 tons of stuff and then going
damn, not suppose to go anywhere and either a.) some of the stuff vaporizing when
dropped or b.) stupid algorithm calculated mobility BEFORE delivery and
picked up only the amount allowed by delivery but then failed to deliver AND
removed the calculated mobility. SO I want to change all sectors that had a
no direction vector set to a cut of 0 as well to prevent the
presumed error possibility. Of course beep being poisined by a random
food sabatuer is still far more enjoyable to think of then our past programmers
getting the server correct.

Does this version of Empire have a Righteousness clause?
Where if a country separates itself from the evils of money
for three consecutive turns then said country due to the previously
mentioned clause wins outright?
> Announcement from beep, (#1) dated Tue May 20 00:24:13 2008
that ain't a righteousness clause, that's a "what the frack is his
problem" alert: decision tree: (1) country adjacent then attack. (2) if country
not adjacent then offer "friendly" advice so that adjacent countries
have a harder time pig-piling.

it is a scientificly proven fact that money can buy happiness...up to a point.
both lack of money and an excess of money are proven stressors that
detract from your quality of life. countries that cannot figure out how
to manage their economies should therefore be subject to "optimization"
by their neighbors in a collegial effort to alleviate the stress their nominal
rulers are under as they struggle to understand the simplicities of
Empire.

A player wondered whether there's any reason to build a fort with
NO_FORT_FIRE enabled, and asked how to use guns and shells.
With NO_FORT_FIRE, fortresses can't fire guns. You can still fire
from warships and artillery units. You can arm frg and tt, but they
lack the range to be effective at bombardment. The real naval gun fun
starts at tech 45 (bb and lc). The first artillery unit is art at
tech 35.
You also need guns for flak, but that won't be necessary for a while.
Forts may still be useful for their defensive and offensive bonus.
Check out "show se s". Note that sectors need to be efficient to
enjoy the bonus; a 0% sector always has just 1.0. Except mountains,
whose defense starts at 2.0.
> Announcement from Beehive, (#9) dated Wed May 21 12:29:42 2008
Real empire Players build forts no matter what.
Large installations of metal and large caliber phallix like metal tubes
protubing in the air. With cocking good looking muscle bound men walking around
looking important. The fact that you can fire the guns doesn't keep they from
playing with them.

you would use the lfire command (hence firing a unit) to fire the gun and
me also thinks that it would be a cool idea if the fortress gun got a +1 range

- 1EyedMonstor has too much money - probably should be
making more tech
- Those with only 100 oil probably not making enough tech
- Those holding 1K or more mil should learn to make

- Others have too much dust - I am sure your neighbors
will help you turn it to bars
- Tech leaders are in the mid 30's - if you are below 30
at this point you should be concerned
- The cheapest start for edu production was to make about
350 edu continuously since the 3rd update - any less and
you have spent more money later trying to catch up - it
is easier to get the level up when the civ count is
lower - prime example is Xymaca who is almost broke because
he was running 2 tech centers with a low edu level

Info bridge is wrong currently.
Bridge spans are limited to 1 span. Two get a 2span
bridge you'll need to build from both sides of a 2
sector wide waterway.
Not that it affects players much here.

that's a totally bogus conclusion, I know many people
who can't take a mathematical statement and make it realized
in actually setting so that it has meanning. The fact that
A:mil:10,Eff:30,Max_Def:2.5,Max_Off:2
B:Mil:9,Eff:50,Max_def:2,Max_Off:1
A attacks B
The very fact that the server at each battle calculates a strength to determine
a single probability implies that the total probability is complicated. In fact, I made
NO attempt to solve it theoretically. Only implemented a simulation. Even the simulation
lacks specifics like in what order does the server kill of militia during the battle?
and add to it the prob of morale failure it is even MORE complicated.
So anyone who needs help to understand the implementation of empire code is NORMAL not
a foddereous_weiny_wacker.

A player asked why land units on a reserve mission report
radius 0.
By default new units have a reaction radius of 0. This
prevents unprepared units from running off to get slaughtered
before their owner actually wants them to.
If you want the unit to react to battles you need to
run the lrange 200\201\202 3
where 3 is the range you want them to try to protect and
200\201\202 are the units in question.
show land stat will give you more details on the various
types of units and their reaction ability.
Strenght command can help you see the benifit that the
units are adding to a sectors defense.

WinACE users
The build information for cost to designation and cost for 1% are reversed.
To correct them, do a show sector b and the show tool will correct itself
in the short term. The xdump parsing is incorrect so each time you start
WinACE it will be reset back to the incorrect values. I will do a release
on the weekend to fix this. I also have fixed some issues with the max safe
civs particularly for cities.
