Greetings!

Yep, an update to a blitz game; again! Helps the deity practice for
hosting a formal longterm game and gives rec.games.empire lurkers something to
read. ;)

We have had 19 updates since the start last week. In total, 6 players have
joined the game. Cohiba and UNICEF have taken the roles of teachers and mentors
and have show Gemini and Nitcell just how quickly you can be invaded if you
don't plan accordingly. This has put them on the defensive, and it shows just
how difficult it can be to come back from improper planning.

Currently war is raging on several fronts with UNICEF and Cohiba attacking
each other. UNICEF invaded Nitecell and Gemini straight off taking many sectors
from them both.

Cohiba showed that just because two countries share a common foe, it
daoesn't always mean they're allies by default. This was proven when Cohiba
waltzed in out of nowhere and took a radar ")" sector. The news indicated that
Cohiba took 1 sector from Nitcell. Since the deity is playing, he did not
check the details of this-assuming that Cohiba did the same thing to Nitecell.
Just goes to show, always keep mil in you ")"-even if you *think* you're safe.

With the exception of the diplomatic relation ship of Gemini and Nitcell,
whom are still Neutral with each other, everyone in the top 4 is either Hostile
or At War with each other - no alliances seem to exist.

The players voted that now that things are heating up, even though its a
"blitz" at 3 updates a day that the updates should be ratched back to 1 update
per 28 hours to allow the noobs a chance to actually pretent like they're in a
real game and strategize.

Shameless top-posting ensues...

Praises be to the Almighty and merciful mother of the world, Gaia.

This "test" slow blitz game has been a lot of fun already. I decided
early on to commence the fighting; it was very necessary to bring
much needed emergency aid to the children of the world in dire
straits. We're going around building schools, facilities, etc, and
sending in medical supplies. Evidently Cohiba noticed that kids need
cigars too and has been sharing their culture with us.

One of the things I noticed is that a lot of newer players don't know
how to fight low-tech wars and mebbe they can learn something. That
is also very necessary.

I attacked 2 countries at the same time with a hostile neutral power
adjacent to me. I knew it would be a good time. What I wondered was
whether he would attack me since I obviously was vulnerable at the
time, or would he attack them too and get easy kills.

Now we are all at war pretty much. I don't know what the late
bloomers are doing yet. The good thing to me about games like this is
that I can test out new tactics and strategies without losing face and
also have fun at the same time in rl and enjoy life and the best game
in the world simultaneously while helping "new" players learn the
game.

I actually learned some things myself this time around too that I
never thought of before. It's working.

Ciao,

=GM=

Heh, that's funny! You're a good annoer (is that a word?). Anyway, the low-tech
attack was perfect. I learned SO much in this blitz so far. I'm in all new
territory now. Very cool - I'm glad we have a good group together.

I'll have to post some of the annos from the game - I like yours and Cohiba's
back and forths re: cigars and helping children.

Thank y'all mentors much!
