In case you are using the basic unix empire client, too:

I offer shared sessions where you and I log into your or my game
and where I comment on your (non)usage of commands/tactics. Or
vice versa, I'm pretty much a beginner mysself, and if someone would
be monitoring and commenting on my dabbling, I'd be thankful, too.

Technique used: You ssh into my machine where I attach to that
same session. Either one can enter commands or questions/answers
A separate, additional IRC window for the latter would be really
helpful, though.

If you are interested, drop me a line.

(in case you need to know
how to pronounce my last name)

(Shared multiuser-screen(1) use would be fine with me, too, but
that's so complex that you'd need to have prior experience whith
that.)

I like this idea Martin. I think it could really accelerate
learning. Would a Changeling blitz be a waste of your time? My only
other concern is time.

No, not at all. I can also run a local empire server on my
machine, with "zdone" on-demand-updates enabled.

I was thinking, if I ever had to the time, to create a tutorial that has the user run
a preconfigured local server, that walked through the first few updates. The reason
behind the local server is so that the tutorial references would match what the user
sees exactly.

P.S. This could be done with a side-by-side - left column, command line; right column
WinACE.
P.S.S - Even better is to be transparent to the user, so they don't have to worry
about configuring the local server - they would just "run" the tutorial...

There a couple different Empire Hub programs around.

These programs were developed to work for co-rulers so both players
could be on at the same time. WinACE would mostly keep the both
displays up to date and in the server and command window you could see
the commands from the other co-rulers. I believe the basic client
also works for the hubs.

My version had an extension where you could do a chat with-in WinACE
so two WinACE sessions could be connected to the same country and
communicate with each other.
