The current hill seems very hostile to B-field scanners. Until an hour ago,
there did not seem to be a single B-field scanning warrior on the standard
hill (people with cryptic/missing ;strategy programs may correct me here).
Coincidence? I submitted XTC (the grande finale winner of last years ICWS
tournament, by Stefan Roettger) and Drone, a B-field scanning vampire I
wrote for MADs Valetine tournament. XTC ended up as #19 with 117 pts and
survived 2 challenges before being pushed off. Drone currently clings
around #18.
I see two reason for their lack of success on the hill:
1. the overwhelming presence of faster CMP scanners
2. B-field decoys/mutagenizers
Is this just the current "hill climate"? Or are B-field scanners going the
way of the dinosaurs?

The answer... yes. I'm working on a program to decimate SPL/JMP bombers
and the simple B-field scanner defense is a part of it. The B-field scanners
have it too easy right now so everyone is using the defense.
I think, however, the another generation of B-field scanners will appear
when people start scanning consecutive B-fields.
