I couldn't help but come across several references to Mr. Do, after
doing my web research on Dig Dug. I'll have to give this game a try.

Mr.Do appeared to be a game that was ripping off Dig Dug as a clone.
BUT, the game ended up having a more diverse environment, with more
things you can do and a wider variety of elements in it (like win a
board by getting all the fruit in it, instead of just killing all the
monsters, although you could win by killing all the monsters). Mr. Do
in the original game, also had a powerball that would bounce around
the ground and kill a monster, instead of a pump. Dig Dug does have
classic, solid play, but Mr. Do did more. Kind of reminds me of Mr.
Do's Castle vs Space Panic. Take solid basic gameplay and expand on
it.
