Ok I am very confused. I am on level 8 of the abyss at the very last
altar. Answer is humility. Then black. I use the three part key. Then
I type Veramocor. But then I get a message that says the following.
'Thou hast not proved thy leadership in all eight virtues'.

Only problem with that message is, it is entirely incorrect as far as
I can tell. I am an 8 parts Avatar. I see the little Ankh and it is
completely filled in. I even went back to Hawkwind to make sure. So
what is going on here? Why am I getting this message followed by me
being thrown out of the abyss? So close to finishing, and yet so far.

Do you have a party of eight?

As regards Hawkwind: On some systems you can simply check your virtues
with CTRL + S which should give a row of all zeros if you're fully
"enlightened".

If I remember correctly, that message you're getting means you do not
have a party of eight. You need eight people in your party as each
party member represents a virtue...

Aarrgh, no I soloed the entire game. Less tedium that way. No way I am
going to level up everyone and work my way to level 8 again.

Does anyone have a save position near the end of the game they are
willing to share so I can see the end of the game? It is four little
*.sav files. My email address is mik...@verizon.net

If not that, does anyone know of a website that shows you all of the
final screens of the game so I can have a look? Thanks.

Well, if you were capable of soloing the whole place... the rules
don't say your party has to be alive. It's tedious to make your way
through the Abyss again, but if you wanted to, you could collect all
the other party members, go to the Abyss, head in and do it again, and
just let 'em all die in the early rooms, and fly through solo again.

It just needs all the members in the party. They don't have to be alive
through the trip down the Abyss. I'm not sure if you need them alive at the
end part, but if you've got a character who can use magic having a few
resurrection spells mixed can help with that.

The samegame is at the final altar. Just use a stone and go from there.

Ah so they can be dead then. Well ok that isn't so bad then. It was
the leveling up part I really wasn't looking forward to. But if I can
just collect them all, and run through the abyss again, yeah that
isn't so bad. Thanks.

Soloing the game with a non-magic character was a challenge I was
unwilling to attempt. :) Yes you are correct, even if they do have to
be alive, I suppose I can resurrect them at the last part of the
abyss.

Wow thanks, I'll try this first.

Most of them don't start on level 1 anyway, and if you buy them magic
wands and magic bows* they will level up quickly - at least enough to
survive the Abyss with a bunch of healing spells.

The Abyss should be doable with level 3-4 characters if the leader is
level 7 or 8.

*In the Commodore 64 version you can sell your mystic weapons + armor
for huge loads of cash (just make sure you never have more than 9999
gold in cash at any one time), then when you sold them all just go back
where you found them and they'll be there again. No idea if this works
on the PC though. Also, magic wands do work in the Abyss like other
magic, and they come in far more handy than those dumb mystic swords.

Hey, that's you playing the pally! :) Thanks, the savegame worked just
fine.

I wouldn't even bother saving them if I did not have to. As long as
they stay in my party, they can stay dead. :) But I finished the game
now anyway.
