I just cracked 70 smithing today (from 54, required 7000 ingots). I'm
still failing on daggers at 70, and everything else i try too.
Ah.....don't you just "love" when OSI makes those unexpected changes to the
game? They sure are a surprise for everyone : ).

You have to take into account that I am having the same problems on TC with
smithing. There is literally no one else on the shard right now, I would bet
less then 20 people playing it at any one time. There are a few smiths
there, but mining is going up like mad while smithing is failing like mad.
Just went through a few ingots at ~30% skill level to double check today. 43
ingots yielded 2 barely able to make wooden kite shields and one normal
wooden kite => lost 40% of my ingots for ~150 net gold. If I would have sold
the ingots to the NPCs I would have made more.
Character is a fencer, so I made a few daggers when I first started, now I
can't make a dagger to save the characters life. I seem to recall giving up
on making wooden shields somewhere around 30-50 skill level since they
didn't give skill gain anymore on another character.

Yeah, nothing beats that pleasent feeling. It kinda reminds me of being pk'd,
all the excitement, fun and challenge. What would the game be without stuff
like that?
