i use just the bow ie not x bow.
missing a lot more after patch and the hit rate for longer shots seems
less.
any body else finding this?

Nope, bows still seem fine-n-dandy to me.
Have a lot of people ask why you use a bow instead of a heavy
crossbow? I get that *all* the time.

I don't. People just don't know what they're missing, not seeking my sage
advice. <nudge> :-)
But I had a fortified accruate HXB of ruin which I put aside for a regular
handbow, because it just didn't kill anything fast enough to suit me. I tried
it against bunnies and earth elementals (comparing it and a regular handbow
against the same EE), and just was not impressed. I always wondered if there
were a bug with that thing, since it Identified as a f.a.hxb.r, but performed
like a popgun.
Now I rely on whatever mid-level magic bows I can get from the yard sales,
taking care not to get one that looks like it came from k-mart (ready to fall
apart). They're cheaper, cheaper to operate, and I really believe that
rate-of-fire and accuracy are more important than a bit of extra damage, except
against heavy AR, where the higher damage at once is needed to overcome the
armor.
As I graduate to fighting tougher stuff, and eventually seeking out pk's, this
will of course likely change. I have even acquired an exceptional halberd and
begun to work on swordsmanship (a sword is = = a pole arm, right?) for this
same reason. But when fighting furry things, when I want the fight over quick,
I switch to fork. Gawd I hope they don't wreck forks in the next weapon patch.

That was my beef with the things. That *long* delay between shots
just drives me nuts.

I think it's still a minor advantage against high AR's. And against
lower AR's the bow is actually better, in terms of damage-per-minute.

After having a bow interrupt a guy's spells some three times during
one fight, I'm keen on sticking with it. I doubt the heavy xbow would
have interrupted even one.

Yah.

I think they are planning on introducing the War Spork, which will do
even MORE damage, and is also useful for eating soup.

no, it's not due to lag. what it is, is that for some reason, if an
archer is walking/running while he's attempting to fire his bow, he will
fire shot after shot after shot consistantaly untill he actually stands
still to get off a clean shot. a simple way to prove this: grab a bow
and 10 arrows. go into warmode, double click someting on the other side
of the screen. and walk around just before you take your first shot and
dont stop walking untill your out of arrows. should only take about 10
seconds to fire all arrows. (same goes for xbows and hxbows)

Those shots don't hit anything though. They just spew all over the
place. The original post described shots that actually hit him -
which would have to be due to lag.
well, i think it would depend on your archery skill. if a GM archer is
shooting while running (aka the 3 shot per second thing described above)
it is possable that 1 out of 5 or so shots could hit the target

I'm a master archer with GM tactics and I've never hit a thing on the
move.
I mean, *ever*.
