My goal is to one day own my own Castle(YA,Good Luck)but now that
Castles are just over 1million bucks theres a major problem.
It seems my bank box only holds 60,000 in one pile!So in order for
me to by a castle I will have to have about 17(I think)piles of 60,000 gold in the bank box,but by the look of things a bank box can only hold approx.12 or 13 piles!!!!!!!!!!??????WTF!
So my question is to those who have bought a castle since the price hike:How the HELL did you fit 1million plus into your bank box.
The way it looks to me is that you can get 6 across the top of the bank box and 6 across the bottom!

Have you tried putting gold in bags? Just a thought - I haven't had
enough gold to face this problem yet.

I'm sure I read in an Autopatch message that you shouldn't leave money in a
bag in the bank because people have lost money doing that!!!!!

Hmm, I think I know what you're asking... (I don't even have ONE pile of
60K. I don't even have 1 pile of -TEN- K, so I'm not sure)
Simply take all the stacks, one at a time, and drag them to the VERY corner
of your bank box. This is the very very very corner of it. Now, once the
gold icon is only partially in the box area (Hanging over on the side. Just
make sure its not on an area where you can drop it) let go. the gold should
vanish for a quarter-second or so, then appear a little bit from the edge of
the box. There is a smallish space about | | from the edge of any
container, and any objects placed in this space will be relocated to the
edge of the space. This should cause the gold to appear in the corner. Now
do this with the next stack. You should have 2 stacks of 60K, right on top
of each other, which will NOT combine. If they -do- combine for some reason,
un combine them and try again. Also, make sure that when you are doing this
for the second time (after the first pile is placed) The pile of gold that
has already been placed is not highlighting yellow. This means that the gold
you are going to place will be stacked with the highlighted gold, making 1
stack of 120K. (I dunno what that causes). Its not that hard, and if its all
in the corner there, you can still put other stuff in the bank. Also, you
can tell how much you have w/out having to count the stacks by walking up
to(or near) a banker and saying Balance .
Hope that helps!!

From what I've read the gold piles are limited to 50,005. I don't know how
much truth is in that as I've never had that much :) But you should be able
to stack the gold on top of each other by selecting a corner of the bank box
and dropping there, as opposed to combining the gold. I do this with logs
for fashioning shafts 1 at a time.

Use bags, packs, chests, etc.  Don't know how many piles a bag or pack will hold but the chest is the same size as your bank box when it is open and displayed. I keep my extra pile in a chest.

My tailor is currently working on getting a Tower, so I know the problems you
may have with storing the gold. First to clear up a few things about some
replies to this message. You can have up to 60,000gp in one pile, if you try
to put more in this pile, it will drop to your feet. Also if your pile is
59,999 and you add 2 gold to it, the 2 gold will drop to your feet and your
pile will still be 59,999. To get the 60k in one pile you have to add the
exact amount needed to make it 60k. I personally have all of my gold in a
single pouch wich is showing as (2 items, 0 stones), yeah yeah.. I only have
105k big whoop ;P. If you add gold directly to the bag (not the opened bag..
to the bag itself) and the amount overloads your pile of 60k (IE, you have a
pile of 60kin your bag, nothing else, you add a pile of 5k to the bag) it will
autmatically start a new pile.. not drop the pile at your feet. So this way
you can effectively store your gold simply by dropping it directly to the bag..
it should easily seperate the piles for you as you drop in the gold.

I hope this is of some help,

Trust me it's true. When my friend and I were saving up for a large forge I
went to my bankbox with 15K. I had 50 some k in a pile in the bank and
added my 15k to it. OOPS... I now had less in the bank than I had before
the deposit. I lost the 15 k plus the diff between 60K and the amount over
60k. Ouch..Back to the mountain for me. I will never keep more than 50K in
any one pile after this.

Doesn't it count towards your weight limit when in bag/packs etc.
rather than "loose" in your bank box ?

I have three piles totalling 143,000 , each near limit but not on it
just in case I drop on the wrong pile, don't want some thief picking
up the last few K you made when it drops to the floor.

Here is a response to my post, I found in my email:

U ASSHOLE PUT A BAG IN THE BANK AND PUT THE GOLD INT THE BAGS U ARE PRETTY
STUPID
by:Greg Wujkiw (I'll spare his email address for his own sake)

To respond to this, UO has stated that it is not a good idea to put gold in
bags inside your bankbox. I read this during a UO auto post, and I am
assuming that it was the bug that allowed people to steal your gold.
Anyway, I will endeavor to to smarten up so I can be like you Greg.

Thanks for your wise words.

Putting gold in a bag/chest in the bank box is ok as long as you don't
try to pick up the bag/chest. When I'm fortunate enough to have
multiple piles of gold, I put all full piles in a bag in the bank and
dont touch it. I keep my 'working' pile on the top level.

Problem with gold in containers, (and even in piles) is that in the bank
box it has no weight, but when you pick it up, it can be too heavy for
you to hold, so..... Poof it appears at your feet.
