I have got my STR up to 100 and INT to about 80 my DEX is what ever is left.
My problem is how to stop gaining DEX, I spend a lot of time fighting to get
Sword + Tactics up and am doing quite nicely but every so often I loose some
STR or INT in favour of DEX which I dont wont. I know a skill manager is
coming soon but it would be really useful to have a stat manager too. How do
you peeps manage?

Utmal the increasingly dexterous. Drachenfels.

PS. Mephisto is still haunting me, cant seem to shake him.

What is your wrestling? Wrestling raises str (and swords does too but
also dex).. after you get your swords up (or during) wrestle for str..

Swords is broken. Does not give enough strength. Many people are reporting
uncontrolled dex gain when using swords and no other str gainer. It may be
enough to stop all dex-gain activity. More likely you will have to pick up a
str skill, such as Mace, Taming, Lumberingjack, juggling bowling balls, etc.

Contrary to Queastor's assertion here, I've found Swordsmanship to give nothing
but STR. My aspiring dex monkey has gone from 44 to 100 str in two weeks of
a-couple-of-hours-here a-couple-of-hours-there type of play from Swordsmanship
alone! Damn dex is stuck at 35, and I got those from Anatomy and Hiding only.
Maybe we could trade up some of your dex for some of my str? ;->

In theory you could lock swords and then put wrestling "up" and you'd
mostly gain str. According to OSI, stat gains for a skill are treated
according to the skill locking.

It's unfortunate but wrestling also raises dex some. I've wrestled water
ellies for tacs and gotten 2 pts of dex. Most of the time it raises str,
but it will occassionally push up dex. Keep using it and str will push
it back down.

I think something really fundamental is ate up. While macing last
night I lost 2 str and gained 2 dex.

Somebody told me that wrestling only increased strength as well. So I took
my mage out to wrestle everything I could find, low and behold Dex +1. I
don't know if this is because of the bugs some people are reporting in the
newsgroup but wrestling has been giving me unwanted dex gains.

Well one thing is certain: We will get nowhere by putting this stuff here. The
company reps are once again boycotting this newsgroup. Go put these complaints on
CoB with the k3wLi0s and they will read them.

Since wrestling uses STR and DEX, the latter will eventually rise, and
will need to take a point. But since DEX is the secondary stat, it will
also eventually fall from STR. If you keep pushing INT, then you'll be
back to 100/25/100.

So yeah, you'll see periodic dex increases, but if you keep wrestling
and using eval/med they will only be temporary increases. One or two dex
points really doesn't make much of a difference so you shouldn't get too
worried about it. Fifteen or twenty would be different. :o

You have to build the skills that use the stats you DON'T want 1st, then
build the others to get rid of the unwanted stat. For example, I built my
Knight's Anatomy skill right away (going to 100 int). Then I worked on his
swordsmanship, mace fighting, and tactics. He is now at 100 str, 85 dex, and
40 int. I still use the anatomy occasionally to maintain it, but the int
keeps dropping.

Gotta plan ahead.
