Does anyone but me find it annoying that now that poisoning is back, that a
warrior can't make a living in T2A anymore? Even in groups of 5-10, someone
usually dies if they don't have greater cure potions by the truckloads.
Wyverns for example, hit like Mack trucks, swing as fast as a fencer with
100 dexterity, and deadly poison to boot. How many warriors does it take to
kill one without losing a party member? Millions and millions, or so it
would seem.
I recently went with a party (a well balanced one to boot) to T2A to fight
ophidians. We did fine until one avenger showed up. Call me weird, but how
exactly does an avenger poison, when it uses a halberd? I could understand
if the damned things BIT, but they swing a halberd, and much faster than any
player can, to boot. Does it drool on the blade before it fights? And why
doesn't a matriarch poison? They bite, after all... Does an avenger
deserve poison? They already were near the point where a warrior couldn't
stand toe to toe with them, and then they got poison. Deadly poison. Now
they are impossible to fight, unless one uses a cheap, exploitative way of
fighting them involving trapping them and pumping arrows into them all day.
Or better yet, summoning a blade spirit to fight the damned things. That is
dumb. Who wants to just go out and blade spirit monsters while they look on
from safety?
How does a fencer fight an avenger? He runs, far and fast. How do 5-10
fencers fight one? They all run, far and fast. Or if they are feeling
foolish, they could all run in, and watch the poor S.O.B. that the thing
attacks die in under 15 seconds. Even if he runs, unless he has cures, he
will die in 15 seconds. That is completely annoying. Even a stereotypical
"adventuring party" couldn't fight one fairly without resorting to 5-10
mages blasting the crap out of it or BSing it to death. Healers are useless
in that situation because by the time they wait the required cure time,
their patient is deceased, and decayed to a pile of bones. A mage would
waste ALL of his mana curing poison, which is applied fresh about every 3
seconds. 4 mages could keep one warrior alive, using teamwork. Two
continuously alternate curing poison and meditate (one would quickly run out
of mana), while the other 2 heal him. Before poison was fixed, one warrior
could fight for a couple seconds, and run away to heal his wounds, before
returning to fight again. Now, one warrior fights, runs away, and drops
dead of poison in 10 seconds. He can't use the healing skill to cure
himself, because he will die waiting. The only way I can see to kill these
things is to use arrows from a hill, or use blade spirits, or just blast
away with magery. A pure warrior now gets to stand back, and chat with the
other useless warriors about how much they hate poison.
A dragon is possible to melee. Why is an avenger not? Shouldn't an avenger
be weaker than a DRAGON?!?! If they must poison, at least scale either the
damage they do, or the level of the poison they use!!! And now that poison
is back, the "newbie dungeon" (Despise) is too tough to do, and not a red
cent is to be had there!!! It is a ghost town. I wouldn't go fight there.
I remember having a blast gaining skill at that dungeon. Now it takes a
team of seasoned mages to do Despise, and every one of them would lose at
least 3k of reagents due to constant curing. Maybe a skill "poison resist"
would make the poison thing fair?? Yet another skill to add to the ever
increasing number of skills one needs to be a simple warrior. :(

This is so true. And Greater Cure potions at 40-60gp sure takes the profit
out of things -- when you can find greater cures, since the player vendor
community hasn't caught on to the demand yet. I RUN FROM SPIDERS now
because they're basically a mobile 50gp loss.
EVERYTHING poisons now in T2A. Snakes at the undead fort. Orc mages at the
orc fort with Poison spells. Ophidians. Serpents. Elementals. You're
fighting a nice pleasant little ratman camp spawn and a silver serpent
cruises in at 50 miles per hour, takes one bite out of you, and bam! you're
convulsing in pain.
Poisoning is so ridiculous now. OK, I understand the snakes, serpents and
spiders, I can live with them... but poisoning has GOT TO GO from Wyverns,
Ophidians and magic-using monsters. Orc mages casting flamestrike are !@#$
dangerous enough without them poisoning you too.
The whole poisoning thing is just encouraging everyone to blade spirit
again. Gee, what fun.

Absolutely, I have no desire to carry 20 or more Greater Heals
wherever I go, especially as my warrior is more or less lootless most
of the time. As you say, the healing skill is simply too slow to deal
with it, and you are in real trouble if you fail a couple of times.
It's the ease with which we are poisoned that annoys me, no account is
taken of skill levels. Ah well, back to archery I guess....
