Better bowyer = better bows?

Can anyone tell me whether or not high level (adept or above) bowyers
make superior bows and xbows? I've been told that exceptional quality
bows are the equivalent of bows of ruin or even might.

I'm wondering because I know a master bowyer who stocks his vendor
with these and prices them rather high (100 gp each). Obviously it's
not worth it if they aren't any better than a NPC's.

They are better than NPC bows. Much. But there's really no way to
TELL whether they are better without using them (unless my Arms Lore
is just too low to reveal more than 'it looks exceptionally lethal' or
whatever).

Yes, they do work very well, indeed. Sadly, it is very hard to check
the quality of a heavy crossbow. What I do with my bowyer is make a
ton of heavies, then take them all to the store and I sell all but the
very highest priced. I take the remainder and supply them to my
fellow guildmembers or sell them on my vendor for around 100gp.

A fresh heavy from my bowyer is more effective than many of the "might"
heavies I picked up a while back. You know, way back when there used
to be magic items in the game. ;) (Although, I did find a Massive,
Accurate Shepherd's Crook of Ruin the other night. Anyone know an
angry herder?)

They are easily worth 100gps.

Good luck

a Bowyer with master to GM level can make Heavy xbows that are equal to
Heavy Xbows of force, the only way to tell how good it really is, is to use
Arms Lore on it seen a few Xbows that were labeled as Deadly and did around
50 pts dammage a shot ( 87 str helps too)

I haven't pushed my arms lore further than the ~75 it's currently at,
since I don't use it so much that it goes up anymore. but any bow
I've arms lored, be it a regular bow, a crossbow or a heavy crossbow
comes up as "extraordinarily deadly".

My opinions are not necessarily those of my guild,
not necessarily mine, and probably not necessary.

Hmmmm - that sounds like something I could try to see if my BlueBottle
character get any Arms Lore report difference between a 50gp valued Heavy
XBow and a 95gp valued one!

Cheers
