I have just gotten to the point that I can summon a creature or two, but I
don't know how to name them. I have seen lots of people that can. Do you
have to have a high taming skill, or is there some macro that does it for
you?

Click on the animal like you're bringing up its status bar information and
you can rename it there.

(and please name it something intelligible! ::grin:: There's so many
animals out there named "a" that it's revolting...)

Click and drag the animal - it's name and health bar will appear under
your mouse. Click on on the name (on the health bar) and type in
whatever you want to call it.

Don't name it 'a', though. That'll get you flagged criminal in the
new rep' system.

Drag (left click and hold) it and you will get a status bar. If its "purple"
text, you own it, click on the text once, back space, and retype the new
name.

That would have my full support.

I saw a funny pet name by the bank yesterday. It was a dog named
"DarkLordsNeedJesusToo".

Some people...
