I've been playing for nearly 5 months now, with several chars on divers
shards and like most of us sometimes got REALLY annoyed by the sick
behaviour some players, who have no honour at all and just abuse all
possibilitys to kill or annoy other players.
The last days in Vesper (europa) there where some lowlifes very busy
polymorphing and killing newbies and some thieves who sticked like glue to
your ass letting all boomboxes explode and trying to steal at the bank to
put your stuff as fast as possible in their own bankboxes before they got
killed..
The city was covered with their corpses.
Stepping out of the city the noto's where almost waiting in row to harrash
you, provoke you and do the strangest things to get you grey for a cheap
kill.
Being very tired of all this I decided to fight fire with fire and started
up a new char ...hehehehe
My new char carries nothing and does nothing but snooping on thiefs,
scoundrels and polymorphers.
I hand't had so much fun in UO for ages hehehehehe
waiting for a polymorph to kill a newbie and as soon as he starts looting
the corps snooping on him like crazy let his boomboxes explode and follow
hime everywhere he goes ....It doesn't take long of they start to run for
you or stay in hiding all the time till they get so sick of you that they
log out or leave the city.
Thiefs find out now how annoying it is to follow them all the time snooping
like crazy and waiting for them to loose their patience and attack me so i
can sink my dp kryss in them :)
And is it my imagination or since I started this char the scoundrels started
leaving Vesper and one can just stop on the bank square to talk with
eachother again without constantly moving and being very alert !
I helped clean the city ! :)

Do any of you noble NG readers have more ideas for my char to "harrash" the
bad karma players so much they stay away for a while ?

Grreettzzz

You should get the stealing skill for the polymorphers. You don't have to
join the thieves' guild for it either. When they polymorph, they go grey, so
you can steal from them. As for the noto's..you can always get some friends
and some magery (and str). Get your friends to walk out and hide, then you
go out with just one friend (or by yourself) target any blue and flag
yourself grey...then have your friends come out of hiding and beat the ****
out of whoever jumps on you.

Of course, the problem here is that they have to be willing to take a murder
count too. If they can't take one, then let THEM be the bait and get flagged
grey (if the blue attacks first, they don't get a count).

Soon, or maybe already, you won't be able to steal from greys, or anyone,
unless you're in the thieve's guild.

Get some taiming skill and tame a bunch of birds or more fitting... rats and
set groups of 4 or 5 to follow all the snoopers. So far as I know they can't
legally kill them in town or they go grey for attacking your pets and will
get guard whacked.
How annoying would it be for a snooper to have to run around with a parade
of rats following him to everyone he tries to snoop drawing lots of
attention. :) *eg*

Not counting the fact that if he attacks them in town you can legally smak
him down :)

hehehe... name them all "thief." and do it with birds... that way he can't
run back into them trying to get away from the notos when he goes grey
trying to kill them...

of course, he could use those birds to his advantage in the same way...
better rats then I think... still a damn good idea... :)

Woo i totally forgot about the rubberband problem with the birds... Imaging
this

Snooper has 5 birds following him and making him rubberband every 3 feet...
whacks a bird to clear his path
Random banker guards macro "You will pay fo this you vile swine.." *thud* he
hits the floor.
Goes and waits his 2 minutes and gets rezed and returns to bank where the
rest of the birdies are waiting for him (would setting them to guard him
work better as they will follow the ghost while in guard mode... dunno about
follow)
but since animals will still follow him once he shows up at the bank he
either has to rubberband his butt out of town and whack all the birds out
there making him free reign for NOTO's and you yourself, it would be hellish
and totally drive them mad cause there isn't a damn thing they can do about
it but leave town. :)

Mistress Morrigan

P.S. Hmm I think having a group of pigs follow him would be a fashion
statement :)
P.P.S. and I'm not evil... I am Respectable ;)

You can't do this or I should say at least you couldn't.

Could be the one of the reasons why GM treefrog is no longer with OSI, but
every time I did this to his butt buddy thieves he would teleport the
animals over the fence. I wasn't doing it to harass them per se, I would
just kill them when they fatigued trying to push though.

This was the same treefrog that let theives place ~14 vendors on the road
right outside Moonglow so thieves could block marks.

You really have to be careful in what you do. Lots of GMs are jerks and have
jerks for friends. The foul mouthed thief you harass may be a GMs family
member.

We must meet up, I have a similar character, who performs a similar
function. Im on Europa as well and tend to perform in Minoc.

This is where a player called Go On Ask Me (5-6xGM warrior) deliberately
goes grey so that people will attack her, so that she can kill them and loot
the corpse. I've started leaving only newbie items on my body and attacking
her with my dagger. I dont care if I die, in fact I've gained about 2.5 in
fencing since I started this, she'll get me to GM yet.

Eventually she goes mental and starts res-killing me at the healers (I never
get to dish out an MC though). As long as she's attacking me, the newbies
are safe.

Now that my char has reached 60 in 'borrowing' he can eventaully join the TG
and then she'd better watch out. That GM katana will be 'borrowed' and
dropped on the street for someone to take.

Richard,

The stage I'm at in the game I'm not too bothered if they call a GM or not.
I had a long discussion with a miner killer/harrasser who threatened to call
a GM after I said 'fekkin' in a sentence. They had used 'f**k' earlier so I
just told them to call the GM.

I can't say I'm too bothered if I get kicked off or not.

Me being a newbie I tend to stick to Vesper quite a lot.
I've noticed an influx of thieves and mostly polymorphs over
the past 2 weeks or so.

This past Saturday morning I logged on, and headed straight for
the bank, only to see around 8 dead bodies lying around and lots
of other players on horses, going 'wtf'. The place looked like a morgue.
A lot of the thieves tend to walk around in groups now, and try to
lure unsuspecting newbies out of the city, where the gaurds don't
patrol.

One player yesterday tried to lure me into his house (near Ironwood Inn)
saying that there was a red PC there hiding. Me being the idiot I was
went into the house, the player immediately casted 'Paralyse onto me,
but the spell was bounced back to him, because I still had the effects
of 'Magic reflection' on me, from a previous fight with an orc mage.

Good luck with that new character of yours :-)

Vesper, on most shards, is a hole. It's filled with even more scum than the
Britain West Bank. Vesper also is home to constant chaos/order (pimp/ho)
gangbangs, while Britain, on most shards, rarely has that "feature".
Unfortunately, the Britain East Bank, which used to be my favorite (because
nobody seemed to know it was there) has finally become a cess pool of
thieves and grief players. I'd recommend Yew, Minoc, or Occlo as a good
town to make home base. They are quiet, and the players tend to be more
mature, at least in Yew and Occlo. (Minoc has a lot of miner-harassers, who
spill over into the town.)

Hmm...while Vesper can be bad, I would argue that Britain is a much
larger scumpit. I see polymorphed lizardmen far more often there than I
see polymorphed trolls in Vesper. And I won't even start on the nightmare
that is the Britain graveyard. The city I see the most O/C gangbanging in
is Moonglow, but Moonglow is such a cesspool now that non-jerks tend to
avoid it like the plague. From my experience, the condition of the towns,
from worst to best, are:

Moonglow
Britain
Minoc
Vesper
Delucia
Trinsic
Skara Brae
Papua
Occlo
Yew

And of course, there's Jhelom, Magincia, and Nujel'm, all of which are
usually deserted.

For a "home town" I'd argue that Skara Brae or Jhelom would be
best--Yew doesn't have enough stores to live off of, and Occlo doesn't
have a moongate. Jhelom is nice and quiet, but the amount of small vermin
to rubberband on is extraordinarily high. Most of my characters have
settled into Skara Brae--but the town seems to be getting worse than when
I first started.

Depends on the shard too... I'm on Chessy and don't see too many assholes in
moonglow there though it has a good number of chaos/order groups roaming
around but they tend to end up in small 4 on 2 gangbangs that noone else
pays any attention to it appears to be majorly a Chaos controlled town...
and so far I have witnessed one polymorpher in the brit bank area (I happen
to be the one that fell for it... saw 2 lizards... tossed an ebolt and it
bounced back to me then appeared to bounce back to him. Was weird... nothing
happened. I rode off when I realized it was a poly but I never went grey nor
did he and all the yo-yo's doing guard bank macros didn't effect either of
us...some how we both got away scot free)

I think it's also dependant on shard... Moonglow has to be one of my
favorite cities on Atlantic, not least because of the insane reagent spawn
rate, and the infinte number of sheep and other animals to kill, tame and
skin. There are a fair share of problem players there, but you can find
that in any town :) (Actually Moonglow was the city where my wife met the
first person ever to PK her.. hmm...) Of course, I'll have to agree with
you, Britain is probably up there on the list of "worst cities" on every
shard...

Moonglow seems to be relatively safe, until everyone finds out about the
permanent red moongate to the Lycaeum on the second floor of the Britain
Library... oops let the cat out of the bag ;) It's funny when people spam
"Need gate to Moonglow!" at the west britain bank, literally one screen away
from a permenant gate there...

Which shard are you playing on, BTW... I sure hope Moonglow doesn't get
pulled down into the dregs on my shard... I love the "free regs/no PK"
atmosphere of it... :(

Point taken...I play mostly on Catskills, so that may color my view. But
when I was shard-hopping before settling down, the other shards I was on
seemed to be pretty much the same. Jerks and PKs seem to gravitate to
where there are newbies, which is why before the increased-spawn patch
the Moonglow cemetary used to draw lots of PKs preying on newbie warriors
fighting skeletons. That, combined with the rumor that you can access the
Moonglow bank outside the guardzone when you're red, (I still sometimes
see reds on the other side of the fence spamming "BANK, BANK, BANK" all
the time) made it a natural spawn point for jerks.

Minoc's East Mines are also really, really bad...a good portion of them
are out of the guardzone, so people recall in all the time to slaughter
all the miners that go there. Not to mention the throngs of ore thieves and
pack horse killers. On Catskills there's an entire guild whose main
purpose is to harass newbie miners there. My main character's tenure was
spent there---I remember on my very first day some jerk in an orc mask
charging me, emoting "*so-and-so is attacking you*" and casting ebolts.
(but not actually firing them off) Not fun.

I haven't had any problems since moving to Moonglow (LS)

First thing that happened to my newbie when he got to Lycaeum was
running into some kind soul who led me to the bank and handed me
stuff.

And nobody's tried to play "Jank the newbie" with me yet.

Wow. What a difference. My moonglow is filled with Chaos/Order people
reskilling constantly, bank jerks, whining newbies asking for horses and
house deeds, and tons and tons of thieves. Thf (thieves of moonglow) is
always at the cemetery, robbing players of the piddly gold they get from the
skeletons, and stealing my regs as I try to keep the new players healed.
Finally I just got sick of it, and I've not been to moonglow in a while.
It's just not worth it for me anymore.

sigh, now I have to take back my statement... the last day or so Moonglow on
Atlantic seems to have become home to some seriously annoying Chaos/Order
nonsense, usually RIGHT by the bank. ARGH.

I think it's a cyclical thing... the idiots seem to move from town to town
like a plague of locuts ;) I just hope they leave Moonglow soon...

and yes, Minoc East Mines are a terrible place with all the Pkers (lots of
notos on Atlantic... a whole guild of em i tangled with the other day...)

I agree with the looters and twits in the graveyard... but I don't really
mind the chaos/order wars... I find them entertaining to watch :)
People whinning for horses... I'll either tell them I got one and we have to
go get it... then gate them to some remote stables and dispel the gate
before they come back... :) *note this is after checking titles and the cost
of the bag they are carrying... if its valued by item id at over 1k in gold
I gate em or if they have some nice armor on I gate em and dispel*
Theives... just the occasional snooper (Santa Claws comes to mind from an
encounter lastnight) but noone thats actually set off my steal notice.
(someone did run by and try to gank my silver sword in deceit lastnight but
failed and ran off)

Mistress Morrigan... I think tonight I'm gonna set about 6 birds to follow
any snoopers I find in glow :) bwhahahaha

I did meet a beggar today, some new (but not young) mage asking for
sulphurous ash. (Only reason I know he's new, he's still casting
magic arrows.) I don't think he was whining though.

Ah. Maybe that's my problem, I haven't wandered down to the cemetary
yet. (I think I've been around the rest of the island, just not
there.)

I did have one guy try to steal from me. He thought I was an npc.

I like to wander around town unarmed in my newbie cloak; between it
looking somewhat like a healer's cloak, and my having a very simple
name, it wasn't surprising. I think I even had one guy on a horse
greet me with "Vendor buy" when I was standing in the reagent shop.

I don't get that... does that actually do anything to them, or is it
just funny?

You should have answered, "I'm sorry, I do not understand thee."

Nah, I just did what all the shopkeepers do to me. Wandered off like
I didn't hear him...

Saw a couple d00ds today, running all over the place. The land is so
small, why the need to run everywhere? Saw some guy provoking animals
at the zoo. Saw some nifty spiderwebs at the zoo too, but the guards
whacked the giant spider that appeared there.

Saw some Young player meet his Companion; Companion says "I'm from
the OSI Companion program, here to guide you through your first couple
of hours today" (or something like that) The Young guy goes "Huh?"
Companion: "I'm here to help. Do you have any questions?"
Young guy: "Not really"
Companion: "Okay, enjoy yourself then." *poof*
Young guy: "Well that was wierd."

I hope he understood what he did. I never got to meet a companion
when I was Young.

I get that all the time with my tailor Neidle...
People vendor buy him the bank guards all the time..

Had someone steal a empty backpack from me and got guardwackked.. :)

funny
Told him when he ressed that if he needed the gold that bad, he should have
just asked for it :) I then left the backpack next to his bones..
