Will someone PLEASE tell me what the deal is with the new Rep system?
I mean how's it gonna work, what can you do to raise rep, and what will
cause you to loose?
Someone said theives and Murderers could be attacked in town. Is this true?

As Dreads, they currently exist, are, Murderers'll be killed by guards if
they'll come into a town. And you'll also be able to attack them without
summoning any guards.
The concept of "permanent" thief to everyone seems to go away. So they can
basically be attacked only when they commit a crime. But once a thief steal
from you, he'll be flagged as a criminal permanently only to you. So you
can attack him at anytime without summoning any guards.

Hey thanks for the explanations to those of us who haven't poured
through the faq yet. I have another question if you have time, let's
say someone is an evil lord, hasn't *ever* killed a human being. When
the new noto goes into effect, what will his karma/fame setup be?

His Karma will be low, most likely -3 or -4 on the scale (-5 being the
worst) and his Fame will be based on stats/skills.

Oh, and his murder count will be zero, natch.

Check out the FAQ, mate:

http://www.skypoint.com/~bob/uo/faq/

Murderers will be killed on sight by guards.

And yeah, you can attack anyone (thief or not) that has a criminal
flag on. Snooping and stealing will turn on a criminal flag.

Dreads Will not Automatically become Murderers. They will fall in
With thier Murder count if it's over 5 right at 5 Just one under a murderer,
ie if they go kill someone after rep they will go right Back to Being red.
If Not they will be able to come back into town and will Be Bluebies all
over again. only murderers will be killed on sight in town.
So if your an evil lord you will be somewhere down thier on the Low
Karma end with a bit 'o Fame, No exact ratio has been quoted yet. If you
never killed anyone then you have a Murder count of Zero. And you will no
longer be a walking Target. Infact you May even shoot for Dread Lord, since
Fame is equivilant wether your a Bad guy, Low Karma or a Good Guy High
Karma.
If you drop in Fame that's not going to make anyone happy because
it's a scale that starts at zero and only goes up.
You lose Fame if you die. Ouch! Fame is hard to get. Karma isn't
as Important. Although Dealing with NPCs will have alot to do with karma.
if you are at the lowest Karma, they won't deal with you at all. Maybe red
ones will But I haven't seen any Red NPCs on test so who knows!?!?
Oh yea Dreads lords probally will not Be dread lords under the New
system, since it's on the Lowest Karma and it's the Highest Fame, and NOBODY
will be transfered to the Highest Fame. Infact I heard that your Noto
Number will be carried over as is. Which will throw you way down the scale
of Fame.
I also have gathered that Fame Atrophies!!! Can you stand it? It
says so somewhere under they Chaos/Order guild info. Imagine that if you
kick back in your house you Lose Fame? It's ridiculous!
here's the gist of it. Dropping in noto has always Been Easy, doing
something Bad plummets you, and you have to do 900 times as many good deeds
to get your name back. This will Be the way of Karma. But not the way of
Fame.
So if you do see a dread Lord after rep, maybe a week or to for some
People!!! You'll know he worked just as hard for His Fame as the New
"Glorious Lord" Geez can we get that changed to Grand Lord? Glorious is
just so queer!
The really good News is thier is No time Limit on gaining Fame. You
just keep working at it and it will keep going up!! Although I hear that
what got you some Fame wont do anything for you After you gain, infact
killing something Pathetically easy Can cause you to Lose fame!!
Killing dogs, cats, lamas, and horses will drop your karma, but
only a little bit.

Four will be the highest murder count that anyone starts with under
the new reputation system. Five (or more) *is* a murderer.

Yah, you'll be able to open your bankbox, but NPC shopkeepers will
refuse to deal with you. Even red ones.

No, current notoriety will transfer directly to Karma. Your Fame will
be based on stats/skills total.

I like it. You have to keep doing stuff to maintain your fame, and
you have to do progressively more noteworthy things to GAIN fame.

You just won't gain fame. Dying, Begging and the passage of time are
the only things that lower fame.

Dogs, cats, dolphins, pack animals and horses. Killing regular
llama's won't lower karma.

I was going to type 4 actually I did then i thought well that doesn't Make
Much sense when you have to Have 6 kills before you become a murderer, So
opted with logic, Yes the FAQ says four but it also say Just one under what
would cause you to become a Murderer, which would be 5, Guess we won't
really know until we get there!

Okay is that in the FAQ? Because I don't automatically trust Bob's FAQ! he
say red healers and Chaos will res a Murderer, this is not correct on test
as of right Now.

Well it makes more sense if it's based on SKill, if skill atrophies so will
fame.

Not true! :) Have we played on test? My test character is Mid grade and
able to kill orcs and ratmen readily.
If I Kill a Bull I see "You have Gained some Fame"
If I kill a cow(Easy pickens) I get "You have lost some Fame"

Now I am going to have to go kill a Lama to see. I'll Be back with my
results :) if you want come play on test sometime let me Know, you seem the
Most interested in What's comming than anyone else so far. Did you read my
Rep, notes from test center thread? or did the News server swallow it
somewhere?

No, 5 or more is a murderer.

"A Murderer is a permanently flagged Criminal who has a Murder Count
greater than or equal to 5."

>Okay is that in the FAQ? Because I don't automatically trust Bob's FAQ! he

I think that's just a bug with healers and the chaos shrine.

But you're right, I should qualify my statements with "according to
the FAQ..."

God only knows what'll happen as the result of bugs, last minute
changes, errors in the FAQ, etc.

Ack! That's awful.

Might be lost in the sea of posts... I'll look for it. Sounds like
the FAQ is OFF a bit, unless it's based on the way things are supposed
to work instead being based on the way things DO work.

*Gets out his wet noddle*

Okay,
Must have been Lapsing, oh well.

I ran into a Lama first thing(God how I hate killing these things,
but...) I wacked him..
Lama=No change
Then killed a bear Named "Sexy"(You figuer it out)= Gain alittle
Fame
Attacked a grizzly=I Ran :)
Killed a bull=You have gained a Little Fame
Ran from an Etttin, sorry didn't roll play the Screaming, Need a
macro for that :)
Went Back, Killed a Cow(Got that noddle?) I Lost Karma not Fame, Why
i thought it was Fame Before I don't know, but it just goes to show, you
should test it for yourself, that way if there's a screw up there is no one
to Blame but yourself!
Bunnies=No change
Chicken=No change
Birds=No Change
Orc= Gained a good amount of Karma and Fame
Ratman=As above.
Dog(Please forgive me, *Sniff*, but we had to know!)=Nothing
That's right the first dog I killed offered no change, so I had to
kill another and I lost Karma.
Finally, while dipatching an Orc a brigand Camp spawned around me.
BUT they were all Blue, I fear at this time No Red NPCs exits. I figuered
what the Hay and started wacking on them.
"You are No a criminal" Why ofcourse!
After my kill=You have Gained Karma and Fame. Okay so it's still a
good thing to kill bad NPCs they just appear good, hope they get this right
by the time it hits all the servers. I expect them to appear Grey like
animals,Monsters, and criminals.
And one more thing. Although I looted thier horde in a chest and a
small barrel, ALL the NPCs on Test do Not Have Backpacks, ie no gold on
thier person, hopefully they will at least put stuff on the Bad NPCs once
they make them bad, just like Monsters.
All the New NPCs spawning on the regular servers have No backpacks
either. ANother reason to find something else to do with your thief, Unless
they put a little spawn back into the Ingame chest, *Sigh*

I asked about the cow thing on the Dev board. There's just no way
that's gonna make it to public servers. People *need* to kill cows
for the meat and the hide. Losing Karma for cow killing is a definite
bug. Have you mailed this to OSI? Bug reporting kinda deallie?

Famous sexy bear killers, sure. Makes sense. :-)

I went to report a bug once. Saw the massive Data sheet and decided
they really didn't want to Know. That report a bug page is MEANT to be
intimidating to Hopefully only get Bug reports from people smart enough to
know Absolutely everything about thier computer. That is definately not me.
I can do some amazing stuff with computers but when it comes to hardware
specs, forget it, I don't even want to know.(This from a guy who gave Tech
support for internet connectivity!)
Besides if your system Does not meet the minimum requirements it
probally gets trashed before they even read it. And Mine doesn't it's only
a P100. most times it's not a problem, I have a very Good Video card with
4MB of Ram or Dram, whatever :)
This is obviously a Server bug not a problem with my machine, which
means they will find out by someone at some point.
I would love to help out, but OSI has not become smart enough to
figuer out how to deal with customers, Because they for the first time ARE
providing a Service, not a Product and they haven't shown any ability in
customer service. Once they actually get a 1-800 number They might get some
credit, until then the restricted hours for GMs, the sloppy way of handling
anti-social behavouir, The Problem with GMs not even so much as Speaking to
people, is proof they still do not know what they are doing.
If I ever quit it will because I needed help and didn't recieve it.
Other than that I can live with the bugs, explioters, anti social jerks(Hell
you can find them everywhere and are just part of life),Crashes, time warps,
resets, bad code, Bad Players, weird shit with no explination(Like the
other day when I was 100% alone and kept hearing the spell fart sound)

Just skip over all the fields that have to do with your system specs.
They'll want your email address and the shard, then a description of
the bug, but you can leave all the rest blank if it isn't a
client-side thing.
