Just wonderin how rare a metal box is (the gold ones which can be used
as a container too) I got one for 550k.
Is that too much or did I get a good deal?

Assuming it's not a movable ballot box (which will be deleted by GM's
last I heard), it's fairly rare. They were "made" when strongboxes
first were implemented. You could co-own someone to a house, they'd
make a strongbox, and you'd then un-co them, and the strongbox became a
gold "a metal box". They were only makable for a couple days max.
Far-sighted folks made a number of them, knowing it wouldn't last long,
and they'd be nice rares to have (*cough cough*). They're fairly nice
items for decorating, and work fine as secures.

There are a couple server birth ones floating around per older shards, I
inherited one of those from a friend that quit, and they're
indistinguishable (far as I can tell) from the ones that were made with
the co-owner method. The server birth ones were worth quite a bit
before the market got (comparitively) flooded with the co's.

As for pricing, that seems a bit high to me, but it varies by shard
(which you didn't mention), and I'm a bit out of date. About 6 months
ago IIRC they were going for more like 250k on LS, give or take 50k.
With inflation, and if you're on a more expensive shard (read "more
duping occured there to drive up prices), then that may not be a bad
price. If you check out Tradespot you may get a better idea of their
current value. IIRC I've seen them offered lately on LS for ~500k, but
I don't know if they sold for that.

They're the sort of item that isn't likely to be reintroduced (but ya
never know with OSI), so will remain relatively rare. And they're
functional, and aesthetic, so they're nice to own.

Hmm... I've seen them around, although never paid attention to the
price. I believe they're same as a ballot box, although moveable. I
think that they're created through some bug/exploit, although not
banable/deleted on sight. Sorry the lack of help :)

Thanks again gil, I've looked at tradespot and I prolly could have got
it a bit cheaper but bugger it I've got it now. For the life of me I just
cant seem to keep much gold when I do have it:)
