World Ends With A Demonic Bang

For those of you not in the beta test, the world known as Britannia
was tonight overrun by hordes of foul demons conjured by Asteroth,
the Guardian's pet mage. I was in Yew at about 8:15 central time when
a *horde* of fifteen demons appeared and began slaughtering every player
in sight. Mine ears were overwhelmed by the screams of dying players.
I remained a ghost and ran to the healer south of Yew's market hoping to
be resurrected so I could rifle through a few demon corpses (a few
were killed by the guards) to see what riches they carried. The healer's
shop was completely surrounded by demons with five and six more appearing
every minute. Then I made my way back to the marketplace of Yew and
was not surprised by the sight of 15-20 other ghosts milling about
contemplating the end of the world. One person, who had remained hidden
throughout the carnage, made the mistake of leaving his hiding place and
was promptly overwhelmed by the demonic hordes. It was announced that
the world was ending and with my last breath I swore fealty to Lord British
and vowed to avenge the destruction that the Guardian had leavened
on Brittania.

DOH. See, I was in Britain, in an armory. About 15 minutes before the beta
ended, a friggin telemarketer called. After promtly cussing him out, I
logged on, to have the message "The beta ends in 3 minutes" The game was
extremely lagged, though there was probably less than 10 people in the
whole city. I didn't even make it out of the city limits. So I missed the
whole bloody massacre. :(

Why the hell would you even pick up the phone? Mine rang. I let the voic
mail handle it. :-)
