Hi,

It seems my other cousin is also offering me a job, and it's accounting
(bookkeeping) again. They've been using Quicken (*gasps!*), so I told them
they should get a real accounting software.

I already tried the trial version of Peachtree 2005 and found it very
difficult to use compare with Quickbooks Pro. Though I have my enough
bitching about Intuit's unintuitive accounting software (and bad use of
right-click menu and really bad data sorting system), but most importantly,
somewhat less than satisfactory accounting reporting system (I am a finance
major remember? I nitpick this kind of stuff), but it's still easier to
use than Peachtree. Now the problem is, which Quickbooks version do you
recommend?

I read from some Amazon.com reviewers (I know, the most reliable source of
information... *rolls eyes*), that they really hate Quickbooks 2004, and
the version I used is 2003, so I am wondering, from you guys's experience
which version is better? It seems 2005 is coming out too. But from my
experience with Quicken, the newer version tend to be bloated and not very
useful. But I do care about a better reporting feature. I wonder if these
newer bloat-ware would offer better right-click menu function and a better
sorting, like sorting by click on the column heading (something easy like
that, but they couldn't do it under Quickbooks Pro 2003).

LOL! I could use an abacus, just don't trust me to calculate your bank
account with it. :-D

Is there any single part of software industry that MS doesn't own a share
of??? I'd rather see them owning them and make a good product out of it,
instead owning them to ruin a competition. Recent versions of WordPerfect
has been sucky.

Peachtree is difficult to use and many functions are not very accessible on
various screen. I just don't know where they hide them. QB's navigator
taskbar thingy is very good for multi-tasking, which proves to be very
useful when I audit stuff. That's why I'd rather use QB though I have some
small nitpicking thingy about its report.

Okay, 2005 edition is coming out on Nov 18. I'll think about what you
said. :-) Thanks!

I think for my account an abacus would be sufficient - two digits before and
after the decimal point.

Do you need more than 5 columns?

Huh? I am afraid you've lost in your sea of thought. :-)

Yeah, we just had to get some 13- column books.

I was talking about Quickbook though.... We don't do double-column entry
because it's not done by hand, but with some computer programs. I am not
really an accountant, so if it could be compiled into an income statement, a
balance sheet, and a statement of cash flow, it's fine by me. I need the
final reports, not really the entries.... Accountants here would probably
want to choke me right now. :-D
