If you're already into a UO project like say Legacy then by all means
stick with it, I'm not here to steal people away from other places. At
any rate though if you are intruigued or just bored enough to go "eh,
what's this now?" then go ahead and poke me. Otherwise just go about
your day and pretend this never happened.
I'll go back to posting regulary and leave this thread alone now since
I won't go harassing y'all with adverts and the like. :)
What do you need?

Regulary for you means lurking? ;)
Oh quite a few things, but lore wise I posted the histories of U-U8
incluiding Labyrinth on my site, and I wonder if I got anything wrong.
Even small details count. Also if anybody has anywhere to point me to
make sure I get accurate histories of special objects that would be
beneficial. You know, information on important artifacts like the
Quicksword, the Vortex cube etc. Do we know where they came from,
would they still exist, so on and so forth.

I meant I'd return to my regular form of posting... so yes, lurking. :)
Ok, where is your website?

Poking through the transcripts of game speech and ingame books on
Underworld's site is a good start for older lore questions.
http://www.notableultima.com/
For what it's worth there isn't any canon explanation of where the
Quicksword originally came from, how Santre got it so he could sell it to
you, and what happened to it after Minax's defeat.
The Vortex Cube was created by Naxatilor the Seer, in order to bring the
Codex out of the Void for the use of the Gargoyle people. It's in the
Royal Museum in U7 so it's likely still around for the time period you've
indicated your shard is set in unless you have a plot related reason to
get rid of it.
And if you want comments on your site, you need to provide the URL. :-P
The only one I found for you via Google, from your sig on a post to
Ryandor.com, was five years out of date.

Ultima VII endgame.exe file
Yes, I suppose that would help some. Since all I can really verify so
far is the general series of events covering the various games that's
all I've put up for now in the form of a timeline. I can add more as I
get it hashed out. Thanks for pointing me to Underworld's site. I was
at the Notable Ultima recently but only from a direct link to the
signature generator, so umm, I kind of missed it ;)
http://legendsofultima.game-server.cc/timeline.php Forgive me if the
site's a bit slow (it might be) I'm hosting if for now and I've some
tweaking to do. Nobody has had troubles thus far but there's always a
first.
I had a little spare time, so some tweaking before breakfast. I'll
probably look at the others later.
Ultima VII: The Black Gate
Two centuries past, and the Age of Enlightenment became legend to the
majority of the populace. A druid named Batlin had formed a group known
as The Fellowship. They seemed to be a benevolent movement whose goal was
to unite mankind and give them an alternative set of ethics to live by as
they believed the Virtues to be outdated and impossible to live up to.
But the need for a Champion of the Virtues was not ended. During this
time a mysterious group of people began to travel Britannia committing
ritualistic murders. The Avatar once again was summoned to aid the people
of Britannia.
In time the Avatar found the connection between the murders and The
Fellowship. With assistance from the entity known only as the Time Lord,
the Avatar was able to learn their plans. Far more than mere treason,
subversion, and murder, the Avatar discovered that they had been planning
to open a black moongate through which a malevolent being of incredible
power called the Guardian could enter Britannia. The Avatar succeeded in
tracking Batlin and his murderous companions to the Isle of the Avatar
and defeated them there, destroying the Black Gate before the Guardian
could pass through. Though Batlin fled at the death of his mortal allies,
the Avatar had stopped the Guardian's plans to invade Britannia.
*****
Labyrinth of Worlds
About a year after the black gate had been destroyed Lord British
summoned his friends to Castle Britannia in order to celebrate the
victory of the Avatar over the Guardian. During the night of the
celebrations a mysterious black gem grew around the castle trapping Lord
British and his guests inside. Traveling into the sewers to explore the
matter the Avatar soon discovered a gem which acted as a portal to
various other worlds. Gaining strength and knowledge through these
worlds, the Avatar was ready when the Guardian's own Champion emerged in
Britannia. This evil Avatar, Mors Gotha, was destroyed by the Avatar
after she had passed through the gem. By the use of a ritual and
resources garnered throughout the various worlds the Avatar's own body
was infused with the essence of an air daemon, allowing the Avatar to
blow the enchanted Horn of Praecor Loth and shatter the great gem
surrounding the Castle. Once again the Guardian had been defeated.
*****
Ultima VII: Serpent Isle
Subsequent to the events of the Blackrock Gem, the destination of Batlin
found to be the ancient Serpent Isle, once known as the Lands of Danger
and Despair. With the information that Batlin and the Guardian intended
further foul actions, the Avatar pursued the vile traitor to a land both
strange and eerily familiar. This world was populated by people who had
fled the founding of Britannia and saw Lord British as an evil man, his
Virtues as folly at best, tyranny at worst. A Stranger in a strange land,
the Avatar finally tracked down Batlin only to witness his destruction at
the hands of the Guardian as part of an overall plan to avenge his prior
defeat and destroy Britannia. To make matters worse the Serpent Isle was
in a state of Imbalance, the previous precarious stability having been
upset by Batlin's actions at the Guardian's behest.
During Exodus' reign of terror he had torn the Great Earth Serpent from
the void, and in its absence Order and Chaos waged war. Order was
victorious and fragments of Chaos imprisoned. The decisive victor
left the world, which allowed a temporary and all too precarious state of
stability to form, only to be destroyed when Batlin released the
fragments of Chaos, unleashing Imbalance once more. The Avatar and
Companions succeeded in restoring the true Balance, though sadly, Dupre
willingly sacrificed his life to do so.
Having completed this great task, saving both the Serpent Isle and
Britannia, the Avatar was brought to the Void where the Great Earth
Serpent offered his thanks. But in a weakened state the Serpent was not
able to stop the Guardian from pulling the Avatar from the Void, and in a
final gesture of vindictiveness pronouncing the Avatar's banishment
to the conquered world of Pagan.
I like the edits there. Thanks for slipping in some corrections too,
some of those paragraphs make more sense now. :)
Wandered past your site again.
Just so you know, your main site host seems to be redirecting 404 errors to
hosting advertising pages. You might want to put up some 'under
construction' pages for anything that isn't ready yet, like the FAQ.
You're missing the Serpent's Pass from your map BTW. If it's intentional,
disregard, but just in case it isn't...
Bordermarch is still all mountains, though I assume the latter is something
you're still working on.
Try http://ultima.thehawkonline.com/05destiny/index.html (large) for a
detailed map of U5, again just in case you haven't found it yet.
You're not supposed to click on the links with red buttons. >.> But
seriously, I hadn't noticed they were redirecting to ads. Thanks for
that, I'll whip up a blank page informing people it is under development.
I developed the map based on a digital version of the U5 map. Serpent's
Pass must not have been on it. All I have is a pass to the west of
Britain. It's not exact but we'll call that creative license. I will
however see about adding the above pass in there. It's a quick fix with
the software used today.
As to Bordermarch, it's all mountain on the map you linked to me as
well. Or do you mean it doesn't have the keep atop it yet? If that's the
case: Yes I know, we haven't gotten to that area yet.
Even some of the existing keeps you see will be changing to more closely
mirror the ones as they are displayed in U5. The towns have changed
somewhat to make them better fit UO but the keeps won't need to be
modified all that much.
Thanks for TheHawk's map. It's pretty close to several others I have but
I love the zoom factor on it. It'll be a big help as we lay down the
cities and make further modifications to the map.

You know, I'd always assumed that Bordermarch was hidden in a valley in
the mountains on the island. Checking the cluebook and the transcript
though, it never actually specifies that the keep is in a valley. The
transcript just says it's perched in the mountains on the island.
I think my impression is because logic does suggest that it shouldn't be
visible from shore, or Blackthorn's forces would have located it and
stood off the island and blasted the keep with cannon fire. That and the
fact you can't see it from the sea in the original U5.

If you need the secondary maps, there's a PDF copy of the hintbook on
ReplacementDocs.com which might be useful. It doesn't have maps of the
small dwellings like Iolo's hut, but it does have IC commentary on them
as well as the larger locations.
I've never really thought about it myself but that does make sense.
After all why would you leave it in tact if you could see it sitting
there helplessly?

I'll take a look, thanks. Clicking on the various areas on the map seem
to give me a good view and I do have the images from
http://www.geocities.com/soho/exhibit/2762/u5/tmphtm.htm but every extra
bit does help.

Heads up, geocities will be offline soon!
I know, I saved all the maps. :)

Serpent's Pass? ;-)
(Yes, I know it's a placeholder, but I couldn't resist the comparison.)

I thought of digging up that URL for you, but obviously you beat me to
it. :-)
Only (minor) complaint I have with them is that they're generated images,
and don't quite match the PC map tiles for everything. Still recognizable
though.
And make sure you save them locally, with Geocities about to shut down.
Welcome to the Path of Balance! It just needs a pair of serpent pillars
and I think it'll be ready. :P The "new" path is almost good to copy
over, it'll look much better then.

Yes it did look like they were a bit off here and there. Albeit that
isn't a huge concern, for the interest of building in UO I haven't
duplicated the cities. For the most part I've tried to place the same
buildings in roughly the same locations in each town but there was
additional growth for UO.
I should post a zoomed in view of one of the cities and post that on the
forums too.
Except for the dungeons, I should have all the U5 maps up there
(including the Underworld), you just have to know how to get there..
